A bit of trivia perhaps, but when I was hired by Northwest Airlines in Oct 1951 the headquarters was located near the corner of Fairview and University Avenures in Saint Paul. Croil Hunter was president and the fleet was composed of DC-3s, DC-4s and 10 Boeing Stratocruisers (B-377). The maintenance base was at Holman Field in Saint Paul.

They've milked the company, ruined the union, hired all kinds of low life immigrants so I'm not surprised. Yeah, when are they going to pay back that loan. pathetic company

That wasn't that long ago, remember all the names that are now gone??
In a couple more years delta will have everything closed down except enough folks to man a few gates here, and everything else run out of atlanta.
Funny how this airline went from owning it's own airplanes outright, they were paid for, then the top brass come up with a plan to sell the planes for 1$ to a company they created on paper then lease the fleet back at high prices and pay the upkeep on them at the same time, had to have been 100's of millions of dollars that walked out from all the bleeding the company did, and no one went to jail over it, legal robbery.
Goodbye Northwest...

Moving closer to the airport makes sense. It'll be easier for their employees to commute back and forth to New Delhi.

Weatherballs ... First National Bank ... NSP. What was wrong with the name Northern States Power? Isn't that what it basically is? I liked the name Lutheran Brotherhood much better than the new mouthful. I'm getting old and cranky. I need a french dip sandwich from Powers on the Mall. Or maybe a blueberry muffin from the Golden Rule. Or an oriental windchime from Cardozo's.

Sounds like someone either worked for northwest or knew someone pretty good that did, funny how very little of that was ever reported on the "news". yes all of the planes that northwest had in the fleet were paid for, they owned them outright, then the big scam started.
I still remember when it started to get real ugly when they were busy switching engines between planes because they couldn't pay for the TBO on the engines, then they sent them out to sit in the big parking lot in the sand..
Too late but would have been nice if there had been a trial before the airline died..

SCABAIR is right, have to laugh about the us air crash, they had mexicans who could not read english working on the plane, connected the cables wrong, had one A&P signing off for like 50 mexicans in texas, I couldn't figure out how on earth you could possible make a mistake like that, you all know how everything is marked on an airplane, hell they practically have a serial number on the toilet seat, all the cables are marked very, very well, so I made a note of that and will never get on any plane that made a stop for maintence at the famous stop in texas, that sure should have got more coverage on the news, but then again we don't have a free press anymore, been dead and gone for 20 years..

My dad got to know the late Chuck Doyle and a mechanic Ben Curtis.

Chuck had a wonderful collection of old stuff, as a kid me and my brother worked on one of Chuck's WW2 airplanes, a sliding cockpit single engine plane don't know the model. I later saw a plane like it in the Dayton Ohio Wright Patt museum and it was donated by Doyle and restored by the Hennepin County tech. school, after we did the hard work, LOL.

Delta will clean out the Minnesota closet of ALL parts of Northwest Orient.

Daily Horoscope for November 11

Cancer

You can enjoy today's energy, no matter how frantic the pace of life might seem. Plan to meet a friend for lunch and talk about silly things; there is no need to stay serious all the time, so let loose for a while. Pick the brains of someone older and wiser. If you're the oldest person you know, you'll be surprised at how much wisdom can come from the mouths of babes.
