WTO rules for US against EU on bananas
The World Trade Organization has ruled against the European Union on tariffs for bananas, officials said Friday, possibly opening the door to millions in U.S. commercial sanctions. via The South Mississippi Sun Herald

The WTO obligation will leads to a new situation:
First: West Indies farmers will quit because they can't compete with large farms, agribusiness companies and low cost labor in South America. The land will become idle land or converted for lucrative illegal productions. Second: the countries like Ecuador will develop their banana crops. In exchange of market opening, the price of their staple food will go down with importations from Brazil, US... Indian farmers who grow corn, barley, potatoes, wheat, beans often between 2000 and 4000 meters above the sea level in harsh condition, don't know what is WTO,will lost their revenue and become workers in big agribusiness farms and companies. It's the world that international experts desire. |
