So why do we have a Mayor and City Council if Ray and Jill and going to steamroll over people and do things their way?

For the record, the Matrix Group is an uttlerly defunt and useless orginization made up of retired public adminstration. They're recommendations rarely, if ever, work and all they do is use friends from others at their level to obtain contracts, do ghost analysis, push paper, charge big bucks, and poof they're gone. They have no business even being in business. While public safety admin might praise them, I challange you to find one ground level blue collar line employee to agree.

If a deputy chief can be eliminated, why not immediately remove the "interim executive director", a man who is a substantial extra cost to the city along with perhaps unethical with working in a job while drawing disability ?

We The VOTERS passed Measure R last year so that WE would get more police protection! They have GOT to be kidding!

WE The Voters were told by this city manager that Seaside NEEDED more cops and firefighters and we fell for it. Then, Corpuz brought in two pawns from Sausalito (one apparently committing disability fraud) to complete his scam on the naive city council and the voters.

Don't think the cops don't realize this. They are just too scared to speak up, now that half of their department is suspended!

WE The Voters were lied to on this and someone needs to go to JAIL. Yet the council just sits there and watches them do it.

You have got to be kidding. I agree with Joe, what was the passing of Measure R for.... more cops. This is ridiculous. They must think the citizens of Seaside are stupid. We need to get to the city council meeting and give them a piece of our mind. Corpuz is the biggest crook around. What a joke he is. Also have you ever heard if is isn't broke don't fix it. Seaside was doing just fine with very low crime and now when these Corpuz people came in our crime starts going up. I remember how Seaside was back in the day when you didn't drive down certain streets or go into certain areas at night. Personally I do not want it to go back to that way. I say we start with throwing out the mayor and move our way down.......croooks all of them!

For a city looking at saving money, Seaside sure is doing the opposite. There was no need to bring in an outside interim or deputy chief especially one that is NOT familiar with the types of crime Seaside has. Seaside has far less crime than it did 10 years ago but it is definately nothing like Sausalito. When the interim and deputy chief are done sucking the money out of Seaside I guarantee they will never return. They've got a great scam going on and we (Seaside tax payers) are paying the price.

I have lived in Seaside for the past 50+ years. Believe me, crime is practically nil compared to the past 60's-90's era. Why alter a good and safe record that we have no complaints about....yet? Pick on another source of spent income, not law enforcement!

I believe he is getting $79hour and Willis is getting $89hour. The Herald noted it back when the two were hired. The rich City of Seaside is also paying for lodging at Embassy Suites. Retirement for the both of them is pretty damn sweet. I don't know if the city is paying for meals but who cares it's just money. Willis did the same thing Cercone is being accused of or did. Willis brought over his crony from his old department and of course Seaside officials allowed it. If the current deputy chief can't be trusted then put her on leave. I guess this is what happens when people are promoted without merit. Get rid of the whole bunch of the high ranking officials both in the City and PD. What a waste of $$$$.

Serious crime is up in Seaside. A murder, two attempted murders, and several shootings within the past few months. You can see a change in the streets. The bottom line is Admin needs to solve this quickly-its affecting so many things-so do it. THIS IS EMBARASSING. The public should not tolerate this for long. J. Enriquez

Seaside's bad days will cease when city manager Corpuz is gone. Most of the city management people will follow. Willis and his poor "DI$ABLED Deputy Chief" will also hit the road. Council wants them gone from what many have said. But it will only happen if the Council wakes up and smells the garbage. Those Measure R lies and a No Confidence vote aftermath are gonna last a looonnnng time...all the way up to the election next year!

Serious crime is up in Seaside? You've got to be kidding me..Maybe in Canada but not Seaside. The crime here is nothing compared to what it was back in the 1980's and 1990's. I've even heard some cops say that it's too boring in Seaside and that there's not enough action. Why did you list J. Enriquez name? He's one of the better officers currently on staff. If you are from Canada, don't they have enough crime for you to complain about. I know they have strict gun laws but still boast a major violent crime record.

Funny,

You live in the "arm pit of America" yet you comment on issues related to a very serious issue in Seaside (a nice place to live and work by the way). What a loser! Don't you see what's happening in your own community? You should pay closer attention. Drive down any major street and you will instantly see "The people of "WALMART". Yes, an interesting community, in a criminal way, but hardly upscale. There's no businesses, Thornton Ave. is a truck driver's dream, and there is a whole host of crank addicts, homeless individuals, people on bikes, people without teeth, child molesters, and so on. I guess "Newark really does have it all"! Just ask your council people. They are asking the voters to pay a much higher tax rate as well. They call this one Measure L. That's your community buddy. Good luck! You can't even begin to touch the Seaside issues without looking into your own back yard first. I bet it's ugly! Take a good look! From south end to north end. You will see many, MANY gang members along the way and a whole lot of other things you will NEVER see in Seaside, CA. Seaside is no where near the catastrophic issues that Newark is facing. WAKE UP idiot.

Hit are spot on in your assessment of Seaside. I have lived and worked here for many years and the city is no where what it used to be.

And how do you know this? Did your buddy, Steve Cercone provide you with this tiny bit of info? Matrix Group is a highly respected organization that helps cities like Seaside to look at the big picture. California Peace Officers Standards and Training will always recommend that cities hire more police officers. This equates to big money and justifies their existence. Get your facts straight Alfred. Maybe you and Anna Marie Pagan can get together and share the limelight at the next council meeting. A lot of citizens find this all amusing.

No, get rid of Cercone and his band of brothers (sisters)[Veloz, Straden, Diaz, Borges and Salzilo] and then the real cops can do their jobs. Ray Corpuz didn't ask for the mess that Cercone caused but as city manager is catch the brunt of all that is going on. Do you have any idea how much money Seaside Police Officers are making right now. Check it out and you'll s**t yourself. Are they earning it? Some of them are. But most are just driving around town wasting gas and talking on their cell phones. But if you actually lived here you would already know that. Drive by the motorcycle shop on upper Del Monte sometime during the late afternoon. You'll probably see one of the patrol cars parked in front and a certain police sergeant hanging around, ON DUTY!!!!
