These businesses locating here is a small beginning for some halfway decent paying jobs. However, not everyone enjoys this kind of work, most of these are part time jobs, with no benefits such as health insurance, some make demands of background checks that have nothing to do with a person's job skills, etc.

We also need much more diverse kind of jobs in this area.

I am glad that there is discussion about this because Evelyn has no idea what she is talking about. These jobs are decent paying jobs for the area with no to little experience and employers like convergys and sitel and volt, all which are customer support inbound call centers offer medical, dental, vision and 401k. Yes background checks are done because the employee has to deal with sensitive information for example SSN and credit card numbers which personally i would like companies to make sure that the person they are hiring are good citizen and not people that been to jail or prison for theft. Call me crazy but indenity theft is no laughing matter. I wish that all company the deal with sensitive information do background checks. It is true that jobs like these are not for everyone but that is why the pay compliments the work. It is true that we need more diverse jobs in this area but if we start to complain that we have employers looking down here to open up shop they might just go somewhere else.

I am very excited about this opportunity, I know some of the new managers starting soon, and I would follow them in a heartbeat. They are genuine people, and are interested in their employees well being. I can't wait to be a part of this new opportunity for Las Cruces!

Wow - Sarah and Amber, forget this "exciting opportunity" with Convergys - you two should team up and start team-stripping at Dino's Inn three nights a week. You'd make a killing in tips.
