I guess "Little People" is a better name? I would think that would be more demeaning.

They probably want to be called man or woman without describing their size. I'm just guessing here.

I wish they would also ban A$$HOLE, then people could be prosecuted when they call me this every day.
Midget could be buried at a special ceremony like the "N" word was buried. But we old timers will continue using those words.
As previously mentioned, people are way to sensitively politically correct these days. Where the hell did the term POLITICALLY CORRECT originate. Grow up people!!! Life is so very easy if you choose to make it that way.

I think it has something to do with the fact that the word midget is defined as not the whole thing, incomplete, diminutive. Like: A a midget car isnt really a full car, its like saying a midget person is not really a full person. Little people refers to them by big or small, not by whole or not whole, full or not full, normal or not normal.

I don't like being called tall or white or bald. Let's ban those words. Or here's a word we haven't banned yet that seems to describe the whole thing, RETARDED.

Let them pick the term, but then that's it. That's the one we use. Not like the physically challenged who used to be handicapped who used to be crippled. Or blacks, who used to be colored, then African American, then Afro-American, then black. It's too damn confusing to keep up with the changing terminology.

That ad was offensive; the word should not be as it has a meaning of small. A midget car is not a demeaning term; it means a small car. Midget as a term was popularized by Barnum in his circus.
My wife is 4'9" so is she vertically challenged, a midget, a short lady, a little person or something else more politically correct or all of these?

Hey there "Happy Old Fart"..I agree with you 1000%..
the crap with "Politicaly Correct", if I recall correctly, started with the BS from the Clintons.
ALSO...would you, by ANY chance, be my "friend" from some time ago???...maybe the hint "Fair Winds, etc"....will ring true?

midgets themselves say they view the word midget to mean not small, but less than whole , and no one wants to be viewed as less than whole regardless of your size.

Ha! Ha! Friend, "Just a Thought"! Yes, we must ALWAYS remember, "Fair Winds and Following Seas". It has served me well throughout my entire life. The sun will surely rise in the morning and things will not always be to our liking, but persevere, make some changes, and always remember the above quote. When at sea, the quote is our guiding force and eventually IT will arrive, just as everything in life, if we lighten up.
And never take ones self to seriously...it IS later than you think! How's THE Chief doing? Carry on.

Here's an idea.....

Let's call them Toy People, Miniature People or Teacup People. We have Teacup Chihuahuas, Toy Poodles, and Miniature Dobermans, Greyhounds, Schnauzers, etc. They aren't offended are they?? Miniature just means a smaller version of the normal size. In any way. where's Randy Newman hiding in all of this??

Daily Horoscope for November 23

Leo

The Moon and Neptune smooch in your seventh house of marriage and partnership today, making you long for a dream lover. It's easy to imagine that a frog is really a prince or princess today because reality is not what you're looking for in a partner at the moment. On the other hand, a very spiritual, ideal relationship can be a reality under this influence. It all depends on your state of mind.
