i was looking for a car couple weeks ago , finally i found a 2006 dodge magnum , the pictures shows a good body , normal wear, the engine was looking good , the inside was perfect, was like a dream car, and the for damage wast listed "just normal wear ans some scratches" secondary damage " nothing" so bid the car for 5000 and i won , so i was happy, THEM when i went to pick it up the engine didn't work, and they told me that it needs a new engine, I almost collapse, WHAT THET F@#%$%^@!!! SO i told them that when i was bidding never say needs a new engine,, and they response that i supose to look for an icon that say RUN and DRIVE,....fuck!!!! why they just give all the information about the just like EBAY or give us a number to call for more information......this is shit

Stay away from that shit.
"200+ cars bought from copart, may be 3 cars OK, others all with hidden damages, was unable to check personally in other states. BIG RIP OFF COMPANY. ALL SELFISH LIERS designed for russians, lithonians, belorassians, and south americans."
Couldn've said it better. Copart is designed to primarily serve 3rd-world-country immigrants with no English skills so they won't sue them like i did. They mislead/misrepresent their vehicles and have NO return policy, NO refund, NO customer-support, shitty service, shitty personell, and most importantly they sell SHITTY vehicles. And yes I do know that they are a salvage company and you're supposed to inspect prior to purchase, Still...
Better Business Bureau ranks their corporate office in CA as "A+" but if everyone that had problems with them filed complains at www.bbb.org it would at least help others become aware and bring BBB down on Copart.
Two words of advice: STAY AWAY

I'm glad to see the complaints posted here. Let this be a lesson to all of you. Leave the salvage buying to the professionals. I have to laugh everytime I inspect a car at Copart in the run and drive that has the engine missing, a hole in the block or trans broken. Then I watch on line what some idiot is going to pay for that one? I buy 750 salvage vehicles a year and I NEVER BUY A CAR AT COPART OR ANY OTHER SALVAGE AUCTION WITHOUT INSPECTING IT FIRST. Good luck to all of you. Let The Buyer Beware.

I am a dealer and i buy cars from copart and export them.
Recently a car showed up on my account which i never bid on.
It is absolutelly useless to argue with them Because you cant
prove you did not bid on it.
Has it happened to any of you? Is it because of a bug in their software or its a human typing error?

The same shit just happened to me! At first, I was puzzled how this could of happened and thought that maybe I was the one that goofed up and placed a bid by accident. but after seeing all these posts for the same thing I'm almost certain it was not me who F#@ked up. Copart told me that I am respossible for my account, and no one else would be able to place a bid through my account except for me. I even tried to go through with the deal and buy the car in order to save my deposit, but they told me its too late the car has already been relisted and there is a bid on it.$1270 to relist a car? Thats a god damn rip off
F#@k you Copart. Cock Suckers!!!

RippedOff, so what do you think they do it on purpose or they just make a typing mistake and don't admit it?
I just dont understand how it happens.
One possibility is that their software has a bug.
Another possibility is they try to move cars that dont have interested buyers.
Wonder how can I prove that bid was not placed by me? Does not their server log the IP adresses of bidders? By an ip address you can pinpoint the geographic location the bid was sent from.
I think if enough pissed off dealers got together
we could beat those bastards in court.
I think what we need is access to their ethernet traffic log. they got have a log of incoming ips and bids. I am a computer programmer and I deal cars on the side. So I know a lot about how something like their bidding software would work.
just wondering, at which copart location they "gave" you a car?

I just purchased my last POS from COPART. My bigest problem with them is that they will not identify dealer cars from insurance cars. The only problem I ever have is from dealers cars. Very very few if any problems from insurance cars. Yes I could continue to purchase locally, where I could ask to see the title and then know the difference, but they dont care about their buyers. I'm done with them. I will no longer purchase cars from COPART.

Yes we have not had a good experience with copart either. The only way to buy from them is if you can inspect the cars personally, and if you know what to look for. We have purchased 4 cars from them. 2 Were returned.. Ever hear of that?= thier mistake, and 1 was really a good car, needed nothing. This last one is the iceing on the cake. Purchased a murano from them with run & drive guarantee, and no damage listed. Recieved the vehicle and the transaxle is cracked in half. Returned to copart to re-run through the auction and they were marking it as a damaged vehicle. So after many hours of effort we decided to pick the vehicle up, take the financial hit and fix it. Now today when our shipper goes to pick it up, there are 2 softball size dents on the hood with paint cracked and missing, and they say they are not liable for the damage. So, after 4 purchases they were good on 1. My grade for copart= 25%=F.
If you can inspect before hand it may be a good buy, but for an honest man trying to sell good vehicles, it is not eh place to be purchasing. Manhiem or Adesa are the only "Real" auction companies out there as of right now for "legit" vehicles.

Copart has greedy short sited management. They might be fooling some buyers right now and getting higher bids on cars they are being underhanded about. I run a big business and trust me their short term greed with back fire . After a while the buyer's will come to not trust Copart pictures and info . This will cause buyer's to bid lower on good cars because they will not trust what they are looking at . This will in the end screw the insurance companies that Copart owes it's whole company to (trust me their greed will catch up to them in a near future)!!

I haven't bought anything from Copart however I am aware of what I am getting into if I do.
My problem is when I read through the contract to become a basic member I am lead to believe
I can bid for something only to find out that you have to have a license or use a broker Even if I show up on the lot I have to place a deposit that I won't get back for days
Seems to me a little bit more discloser would be appropriate

yes, i work at copart, i assure you no one is intentionally trying to screw anyone. most of the complaints i see are results of not reading the buyer packet and do not have any experience in buying cars , especially from a salvage yard. let me clarify, Cars that are marked run and drive ran and drove at time the car was recieved at copart, not after is has set for 8 months and through the winter. also that does not mean they are highway worthy. but the post by bamsley uk takes the cake. every gm that i have worked for always watches the auction. the cheaters are the buyers (which are also dealers) who bring in duct tape cars and lie all the way. then bid there own cars up or have there buddy do it. who's doing the scamming?

JUST SO YOU KNOW. COPART DOES NOT WORK TOGETHER WITH RIDE SAFELY - I WOULD THERE - WE ARE BUYERS - COPART IS A GOOD COMPANY
Does a good company let the owner of a vehicle put a minimum bid on his vehicle, and then let this same owner bid online to run his own listed vehicle up to his minimum bid price ?

I've been around people like this for years, don't trust anyone who deals in vehicles or car parts.
