Well, well, well. So you say we have so many unhappy customers but most keep coming back.Yes I work for Copart Orlando and can tell you this. We strive to satisfy our customers, going out of our way to get you in and out with a quality product. I cant speak for the other locations but I can for sure say that, Orlando Copart is customer based, above and beyond.I am a loader operator and must say, myself and my coworkers take the utmost care in delivering the product you purchased without much wait and down time, try going somewhere else and get that kind of service. I have talked to drivers and heard there horror tales at other places. There wait was horrific. The only damage to a vehicle is what was there before we forked it.So please evaluate before posting. Especially about the Orlando location. As far as the unhappy employee at Orlando all I can say is seek employment elsewhere.

Hi, does anyone know if copart will close a deal without going through the online bidding if I show up in their lot with cash for certain vehicle?(I just want to make sure the car is as posted on their website before paying them any money).

Any comment is much appreciated.

The biggest problem with them is that a lot of the time, when you go pick a car up, it will be missing parts. As for the condition of the car, it's really upto the buyer to inspect it... although Copart can be pretty sneaky in trying to hide damage/problems in the pictures they post online. I always expect something extra to be wrong with the car, so I always bid a bit less just in case. But when you bid on a car which had everything in the pictures, and when you come pick it up it's missing a set of $3k aribags, and Copart refuses to do anything about it, that is when they really show you how great their customer service is.

This is a direct result of lazy and inproperly trained employees who are forced to operate in extreme conditions both mental and physical by managment. l

My husband bid on a 1999/2000 Honda Accord this past Tuesday - 1795 - there was no indication of mileage and/or engine concerns. The body was in excellent condition - one thing was written - no key. We live in High Point, NC - and this is not the first time my husband has purchased a car from COPART. He picked the car up Thursday (June 1)no key; therefore, had to have it towed from Charlotte to High Point - no problem - got a key made...opened the hood - latch is located inside the car.
NO ENGINE!!!! NO ENGINE!!!
Can someone out there provide us an avenue of recourse!?! I am in the process of contacting the Better Business Bureau -

There is a difference between buyer beware, and intentionally screwing people out of their money. I am sure you work for Copart, but that is no reason to defend their decietful actions.

My business buys a lot a cars from copart. We hate them with a passion. They are shrewd and corrupt. There is one car that we have bid on for the last four weeks, each week it is sold but it ends up on the auction list somehow the next week. We purchased this vehichle last week for $925 and had a maximium bid that was higher than that. But we did not get the car and it is on the list for next week even though we purchased this car. I have seen many instances where a car has been sold one week and then the next week it is on the sale sheet again. A lot of times it won't bring half as much as it did the week before. I heard a story about a rebuilder who copart claims has bought vehichles even though he never placed a bid. last week copart told him to pick up three vehicles that he purchased. He was out of town all week and was never on his computer. This is not some sort of computer malfunction or customers not picking up their cars because adesa, iaa, and other yards do not have this problem.
Are you kidding me? Copart sells SALVAGE vehicles. They pick up completely wrecked cars for insurance companies and dispose of them via auction and they are supposed to be used for parts. Each yard picks up hundreds of cars a week. Why would they waste their time and money on employess to complete a THOROUGH inventory on each vehicle when they are pieces of junk? They aren't trying to TRICK anyone they are just moving them in and out as fast as possible because idiot drivers are constantly wrecking cars and they only have so much room to store your golden heaps of crap. There are disclaimers up and down and all over on the sale lists, at the yards, and every time you sign on to your buyer account you read those disclaimers and agree to them. Cars are sold AS IS regardless. The only reason they are so mean to customers is because so many of them whine constantly because their "dog hit the mouse" and bid on a car or they SWEAR they meant to put $500 instead of $5000. They can't cater to every idiot in the salvage business. They can't help it if the insurance companies are sitting at their computers rejecting your bids each week - as the seller they are allowed to do that. Copart has absolutely NOTHING to do with the sale prices they are simply a vehicle for which the seller to get rid of their junk to a buyer. If you are intelligent enough to obtain a license to rebuild vehicles in your state then you should probably get a trustworthy couple of people together to go and actually LOOK at the cars for you. THEY ARE WRECKED!!! No one is trying to PULL ONE OVER ON THE BUYERS! Visually if there is no damage - copart enters it as "NO" which means no VISIBLE damage and they move on to the next piece of junk. Quit whining! All of you! Copart has made salvage buying too easy for all these rebuilders and now they are whining when they can't buy a car from copart and smoothly and cheaply fix it, flip the title and put it back on the road and make a cool profit really quick.

I have worked for Copart for over 3 years and Copart would MUCH rather try to disclose more damage than you can see so they don't have to hear complaints. They never try to "hide" or "be sneaky" about damage on a car. Why would they do that?- They don't care how much a vehicle sells for! At the yards they break their backs to make sure the inventory is as accurate as it can be. If you paranoid bunch of lazys are looking for some kind of corrupt conspiracy to explain why you get ripped off, look at how much effort YOU are putting into your salvage buying. Copart can't do ALL the work for you. What did you do 10 years ago when they used to hardly disclose any info about the cars? It was like ENGINE: Y TRANS: Y and thats all you got... What did you do when you couldn't bid from your office? Or when there were only 5 pictures? Or when you had to buy junk cars from your inbred neighbor? They have brought salvage buying a long way. It's not an easy business to be in. I would LOVE to hear your suggestions of how a salvage yard should be run. And please be realistic... the yard guys can't be high paid qualified mechanics crawling up under unsafe leaking scraps of metal. Seriously.

You people on here are nuts. Copart is simply a middle man between a buyer and a seller. The seller is 80%+ of the time an insurance company, but occasionally another rebuilder/jocky. I have dealt with Copart almost 15 years with little to no issues at all. If a vehicle was grossly mis-represented by the pictures, they never had a problem not making me take it. Notice, grossly mis-represented. That does not mean one extra baseball ding. I have bought cars online, and show up to find that the airbags were stolen... no questions asked, I did not have to take the car. I have bought cars with rear damage, get there and the front is knocked off because the fork truck dropped it.... no questions asked.

They are a very reasonable company its just they end up with these occaional small time buyers who do not understand that techincally everything on their lot is junk/parts/salvage, even if it is a 2006 BMW.

well i always say"look before you buy". for one they are salvage vehicles so if it has a bad engine it's your fault for not checking it out to begin with before you bid. Anything is possibly with a salvage vehicle. like some flood are not even wet and some cars do have missing parts only because the parts were damaged to begin with. Just think if they throw away damaged parts it means less trash removal for you..lol

I'm sorry, how is it Coparts fault that another dealer brought a car in, misrepresented it to Copart, rigged it up to look pretty and then sold it to you and got away with it because you never looked at the car? Great idea for a lawsuit, guys. Again, the Copart receivers are not skilled mechanics and they wouldn't notice tampering like that. Engine? Y Trans? Y. Next.
And copart really has no obligation or reason to look into the damage on the cars any deeper. THEY ARE WRECKED!!! Yes there are dishonest people in this business and some of them use Copart to carry out their bad business but you really can't be serious when you say Copart is to blame for this. If you are getting ripped off by a shady dealer, sue the dealer, not the auction company that helped you get in touch with him and find the car you needed.

The answer to coparts corporate misdeeds are for each and every un-satisfied customer to document their experience, then take copart to small claims court.Sure it cost a small fee to file but you can save the lawyers fee,the next step is to notify the better business bureau,( don't expect a lot from that),then notify the attorney generals office of your state. They are charged with protecting consumers from fraud.
If enough people who have been cheated by corporate fraud file suits then maybe the federal trade commission will stop them from their bait and switch tactics, and their unfair competition practices.

It is true if you are a member of Copart you are welcome to come view anything they sell a few days before the auction begins. If you don't you take the chance of missing parts or hidden damage. I do agree that Copart sometimes does not take direct view pictures of the damage. I have bought many vehicles/ motorcycles/ campers and trailers from them with and without salvage titles. I have bought stuff with hidden damage and it is not their fault but mine for not insprecting it or having it inspected if the facility is too far for me to travel to before auction day. They will have it inspected for you for a fee. I receintly bought a popup camper $3500 fees included for my familys personal use. The same camper sells on ebay and other places for 6-7k It was listed with a clean title under title type. I bought this a state away and only had the online pics to count on. I could tell that it was in exellent shape on the outside with only a slightly dented rear bumper. I got it home and we poped it up. It had had a mouse family living in it and the canvas was chewed and the cushions and matresses smelled of rodent urine. Needly to say we did not want it and ran it back threw copart auction here locally. They listed it as clean title previously branded! I went there and talked to one of the girls who told me it had sold twice before I bought it with a salvage title. The second owner had it inspected by the highway patrol (they obviously did not open it up) and got a clean title and their state did not brand it. Carfax does not offer historys on travel trailers and the like. So now I have a camper I won't use that i thought just had mouse damage with a clean title and know know that it has a prior salvage title or salvage history. Copart knew this but did not disclose the info which would have changed anyones bid to a much lower amount. In fact when i tried to sell it it only brought 50% of what I paid for it so I did not sell it as my reserve was higher. I am arguing with Copart right now and really have them by the short hairs as it is a federal offense to knowingly sell a vehicle with salvage history and not dislose this info. The office girl who listed it did not do a complete search on this camper or just pushed a wrong button when listing it. But Copart had it in their system because the girl at my local Copart gave me the lot numbers from all previous sales and I looked them up on their site and printed them on my printer for proof. I have gotten no where short of taking them to court. All kinds of excuses from this multi-million doller company and with all the 100's of thousands we have spent there over the years they will NOT do the right thing even if it is the law unless you take drastic legal action. I have a hell of a case but have to decide to sue them or not as they will most definately permanantly ban us from future bidding if we do sue, and that is how I bring food to our table.
