You should read the article in more detail, the Australian military views China as a potential threat to the country not a friend. Rudd only focuses on the economic benefits but there are other serious issues that have been overlooked. Even opposition leaders don't buy into the idea that China will be completely positive for Australia.

I think if America keeps its military strong it will continue to prosper. I think we need to attack another country, maybe Iran or North Korea, that would give our arms industries a big boost. I would love to see Ahmadenijad's bullet ridden body on CNN like they did for the Hussein larvae.
