What happened to KGO's Gene Burns Wikipedia Biography?

While other KGO radio personalities have Wikipedia pages, his is now missing.

Yet its obvious why it was removed since it mentioned Gene Burns is gay and has been in long term relationship for a number of years.

Mr Burns probably didn't want the fact to be known since he comments on a number of topics (though not on homosexuality) and is comfortable taking either side of an argument.

However, since the Wikipedia page said Gene Burns is a homosexual he and his audience should be comfortable with his sexuality since it affects his opinions.

Why do you ask the question and then remove people's comments on the subject?

A few days ago I read someone's commonsensical commentary as to why the Wikipedia entry may have been removed. Why did you take that comment off?

Besides, whether or not Gene is gay or not has no bearing on anything. Why do you need to know? Nobody cares...

I didn't remove the comment since I obviously am not an editor. If you left the deleted comment perhaps it was the comment's content that led to its deletion.

His sexual orientation has a great bearing on his perspective, anyway curious people want to know.

If Mr Burns can talk at length about his brother's drug dependence, homelessness, and severe risk taking behavior, perhaps you will allow me to talk about him. Anyway, don't you read Yahoo News? Lots of fictional and non-fictional characters are coming out of the closet.

The reason Wikipedia entries are usually removed is because they contain falsehoods with regard to the subject matter. If you think this is such an important issue then go ahead and create a new Wikiedia entry making your allegations about Mr. Burns. Your contention that Mr. Burns' commentary is influenced exclusively by his sexual orientation is ridiculous. If we use your logic then Clarence Thomas' views are strictly based on his black skin. Your commentary is bordering on insanity.

(2) Pretty extreme conclusion 'Who Cares/Gene Fan'. Are all of your conclusions so extreme?
The tone of the Wikipedia article was somewhat warm and so pedestrian as to verge on boring. No religious dogma or finger pointing, just a short statement.

(1) Perhaps some caller will request Mr Burns relate his sexual orientation on his show and Gene will simply tell us. After all, as an intelligent and successful businessman, what does he care what other people think?

I know a writer who had a page created about him, but then someone who had it in for him went on many times to edit the bio, saying the writer was a womanizer and drunkard, etc. Finally the writer was sick of all the attacks and asked Wikipedia to take the page down, which they eventually did. Flaming burned the page, my friends.

I'm sure most would agree with you that is true, however, the fact that Gene Burns never tasks about himself in any personal way indicates he is a homosexual. Perhaps if someone asked Ron Owens about Gene's sexuality he might let the truth slip out.

I worked with Gene at WRKO, Boston. He is a true gentleman. Is private life has nothing to do with his on air discussions. He is one of the most brilliant talk show hosts on the planet. I would love to see him and Rush go at it. Rush wouldn't stand a chance.

Isn't it a sad that our future will contain more brutish and crass blowhards and less imaginative and brilliant gentlemen?

Why did someone delete Gene's page? Check the Wikipedia log. Gene had no idea there ever was a page and doesn't know that it was removed.
It's funny to see someone write that Gene isn't notable when I see pages for many less than stellar talk hosts. Not only did he have a national talk program, he was one of the first talk hosts. His first program was in 1967. Seems notable to me.

Well done john, you provide an excellent example that what you not mention is more meaningful than what you do.

I absolutely agree. Whatever the topic may be Gene Burns always makes it interesting. Rush is amatuerish compared to Gene.

Yes, he is The Best. I miss him here in Boston; I used to spend my lunch time listening to him on WRKO....

I agree Rich, like you I was a huge Gene Burns fan when I lived in Boston, and his daily broadcasts helped me get through a very challenging time of my life. The man is simply brilliant. He is also very probably the most articulate speaker of the english language I've ever heard.

I didn't like gene at first, now I miss him on both radio segments. I pray he is well and will return soon.
