Local businesses predict tax rebate checks to go for basics and debt

As federal stimulus checks arrive in the mailboxes and bank accounts of many San Mateo County taxpayers, local retailers have their fingers crossed that consumers will open up their billfolds and spend.

I predict my rebate check is going directly into my gas tank to stimulate my car so I can go to work to earn more money to pay off my car loan. I'm getting dizzy.

Is scary, the person even tried going after persons that didnt need to file, just to get $40. And look its like a child looking for a surprise from mom and dad.
