Where are all the smarta## comments about Delta and the superior pilots. If this happened at SWA you would be roasting the (niche) carrier!!!!! I guess even the Delta Cols. and Majs. screw up. Two times in two day what a bunch of tools>>>>. Quit polishing the brass and start looking at your instruments!!!!!

Maybe the crew should be tested for color blindness. Runways have white lights, taxi ways have blue lights. Not hard to tell the difference

Oh, stop playing Joan of Arc. The world is not out to get SWA. It is not 1971, Branniff is gone, CAL has been neutralized and AA is out of Love Field. You are now the biggest US domestic carrier so you can stop playing the put upon underdog. As far as Delta taking the heat for their mistakes, go back to the late eighties when they were screwing up six ways Sunday and Dave Letterman did the top ten reasons to fly on Delta. My favorite was "Does our engine noise bother you? we'll shut 'em off!" (Reference to when two bubbas accidentally shut down both engines on a 767 departing LAX, came close to hitting the water, severely overtemped both engines and then continued on to CVG.)

Old Capt, Its all done tongue and cheek. The are still a few DAL boys out there that think they are beyond reproach. We here it all the time on our jumpseats, "you only fly narrow bodies" "you don't fly international" Before it was you don't fly into major cities: i.e. BOS, LGA, PHL, so on and so on. In the end I'm very thankful that another plane did not pull on to the taxiway about the time they were touching down at the 1k ft. marker. Lucky part two is the flight was reached. It would have been very tragic to have a flight run out of fuel and try a dead stick somewhere or even ditch a perfectly operational a/c. Its a wake up call to us all.

There is no excuse for what happened. However, have you ever flown an all nighter to Reo, and an all nighter back from Reo the next night, and then had a Med Emergency on final after flying 9 1/2 hours straight? Just wondering if you think you would be performing at peek level. Just wondering

Rudy, 1. REO is an old car, Rio is Rio de Janeiro.

2. On a flight this long there is a third relief pilot so everybody gets a 2 hour 40 minute rest period.

3. Yes, it's still a beater! But if you can't hack it, don't bid it. The fact is it is a VERY senior trip at most airlines because it gives a ton of flight time in a short period. So even though it is tiring, guys bid it for the money. Pilots will often give up safety for the right amount of money.

Military pilots have psychological problems and are not hired by Singapore Airlinres after one of them crashed a Silkair A319 into the ocean

One of the three pilots, was the Medical Emergency. Had to be removed from the flight deck. No excuses. They made a error. Thank god no one got hurt.

Rudy have you ever done 7 legs dodging thunderstorms in TX, then late to your overnight, get FAR legal crew rest wake up to do 6 more legs? We all have our good and bad. Period. AS I said I'm happy everything turned up alright! We have PIC authority we need to fly the a/c and not be distracted by discussions about company policy or medicals. Again I'm happy we are discussing this here instead of making funeral arangements for our compadres and customers.

"Military pilots have psychological problems"

Excuse me! This is an outragous statement. Given the large number of military pilots out there flying the commercial lines, you insinuate many pilots have... Psych issues? That is funny!

Uh.. Huh... It is easy to "doze off" after a lunch in a warm pit with the sound of the engines. But I draw no conclusions. Landing on a taxiway is a nasty mistake and should cost someone their ATP!
Cheers..

All Righty Then....ya all relax...what's done is done. Let's all just avoid what our brothers did over MSP and in ATL. Look at the statistics, how often do we over fly or land on a taxiway?
Just the rest of us keep a heads up when toolin' along and ya all will be alright.

OF course it could never be a lack of oversight in the Brazilian Government.
All of you grow up. Every commercial pilot has gone soft in the head.
They are the working class equivalent of welfare receipts. How many hours are you limited to flying, oh silly me that is not hours flying that’s hours “on the clock”.
You make up wards of A quarter million dollars for working one third the hours most of us work.
Union welfare recipients, bemoaning your terrible lot. Grow up, you are taxi cab drivers with wings, it has escaped you for many years, you are in the service industry.
