You do know that the Worc. Telegram is owned by the Boston Globe, noted fiction magazine?

We don't care how you "classify" things in Lowell or elsewhere

Wow carnival came to town early this year.
Let's see bright eyes, pull trigger gun fires. Somehow I think the police would be able to determine the gun was loaded.
Before you do fire it though look down the barrel to make sure it's loaded and pull the trigger.
When I kill a home invader in self defense, the state will prosecute me? For what? "Having a loaded gun." WTF is the point of an unloaded one?

I would be the sole living witness

I'll stay alive and take my chances, dull eyes

I understand that your defense would be to bend over and offer yourself to the invader, but that is your social life, not mine.

Haha! I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes the lack of both common sense and critical thinking skills on display on here is just stunning.

Ah yes as I stated before, Lowell is a dump. Living in a city where you feel the need to maitain a loaded gun in your home for safety. Do you have bars on your windows as well?

The crime rate for a population of Lowell's is unprecedented. Worcester which has roughly 70,000 more people has a lower violent crime rate.

People and families are leaving this cesspool in droves all of your empty rhetoric and self ego massaging can't change facts. It's a haven for crime and lower class people.

I have lived in Lowell all my life and have never felt unsafe. I don't have any need for a gun as my neighborhood is very peaceful.

I don't lock my doors when I go out during the day.

WORCESTER? Why not Lawrence?

I know Worcester very well and would not want to live there for a second. It is entirely a Spanish speaking enclave. Lowell is just fine thanks. Screw, or, VAMOS!

Jake...why do you give a rat's a **? This whole "your-town-is-a-dump " argument is immature, baseless, and well for lack of a better word, RETARDED (no offense meant people, seriously)!

Every city or town has it's certain mix of lower/middle/upper classes. Lowell has it's problems, just like everywhere else; but overall, it's not a bad place to live. I have always felt safe here.

Obviously, a significant lack of class is necessary to be indigenous from wherever it is that you are from.

Well, the girls are all on the dole (Oh, I mean they all work for the city) and one of them (the nicest one, actually) is in foreclosure on Clark Rd. Her ex husband is an idiot and it's too bad, b/c she's a great girl. Another one, 3rd ex wife of another dope, has major liens on her house and may loose it soon. 3rd girl's husband was also a dope, but a dope with $$, so she should be around for a while...

You waited to long to bail out of Lowell. What's happening to the other sections of the city is now affecting Belvidere. Lowell will never be the same.

$1.25 mill to buy a house in Lowell ??? You better have some money left over to send your kid to private school. Imagine having all that dough and you end up sending your kid to the lowell school system. kid will end up dodging drug gang bullets in the hallway or having his lunch money taken by an illegitimate dickie ecklund spawn.
If you can't outwit the West End Gym spawn you probably won't survive very long in the real world.

For every hundred people who call Lowell a dump, there's thousands upon thousands of us who are proud to call it home. I've lived here all my life, worked in other cities, travelled the world and there is no other place like Lowell. I've even worked with people, those who have never even stepped foot in Lowell, who have called it "a dump". They are wrong -and so are You. You've left Lowell - Fine, but take your criticisms with you. And please be respectful and show the class that you seem to think you have acquired since you left our flawed, but Great city.

Time to man up Jake. I am a single mother and I don't need a loaded gun. You are an idiot. Any major city should be treated as such, a city. And with it comes some risk.. I grew up her and am raising my kids here. I am not afraid, but am teaching my kids how to be cautious people.

Let me help you genius.
It's illegal to have a loaded gun in your home in the peoples republic of Massachusetts. You see the criminals have more rights than the homeowner.
As far as the police keeping quiet, it would be nice if they informed people in neighborhoods where car or house break ins are on the rise so residents could be aware.
But you being the "local observer" and obviously a rocket scientist already know all of these points.
So what if it is illegeal? Would you rather be dead or facing a trial in Lowell Court? All of the prosecutors live in Cambridge and don't give a shit about Lowell... this is just a paycheck and a political stepping stone for them because they couldn't get a job with a law firm when they graduated. Get a gun, defend your home... lord knows the cops won't... none of them live in Lowell anymore anyway so what do they care...

I recently drove through the Andover St. area and was surprised at the many For Sale signs, seems there is a sell-off going on in that area of the city, I also noticed that many homes were in need of repair as well. It's funny how time changes things.
