Hatem said. "We need to send a message that this is the place to be. The city can't afford to lose the Cooneys, the Cranes and the Hatems."

Stop the city!, it can't afford to lose them...

High Opinion of oneself........

City was fine before you got here, it'll be fine after you....geez

Your nobody if your not a mover or shaker in this city. According to the Sun anyway. By the way, the article on Lynch's raise is false/a lie. There is a certain city union that has not seen a raise since 2006. Give him his raise it will only help this certain union in the long run.

Get rid of the old croonies. Lowell went to pot with them. It is the young families that are invested in its' future. The young families are revitilizing all the parks, the old guard let them go to ruin.

Hatem should try to keep his own family intact first. The pompous arse should make sure his kids are keeping their families together. Not too successful there.

Who does he think he is that Lowell cannot afford to lose the Hatems? They aren't even in the same league as the others. He always was a wannabee

Many of these self professed Royal families of Lowell have taken much more out of Lowell than they've put into it to make it a better place to live. Remember the few that have ended up in jail because of their greed and self importance. They've all done quite well living off what they could take out of it and now of course it's time to move on. Somehow we will manage to survive without them. And no Dracut Retiree, we aren't sinking like the Tatanic. Why is it all the people that have moved out of Lowell and have such fond memories of days past are it's harshest critics. Not fair to those who have stayed, brought up families here and tried to make it better and actually are still proud to be from Lowell.

Oh please, get over yourselves. I hope a Cambodian family of 15 buys your house, paves the front lawn, and cooks fish outside every day.

He doesn't think the city can afford to lose him? What a ridiculously arrogant comment! If you need to inform the city that you are indispensable in a newspaper article than you are not indispensable.

Hatem is a JackAss - always Has been, Always will be. The City can't afford to lose him? Give us All a break, Pal. His house is Ridiculously Overpriced even at the reduced price. For that figure you would expect a master bath and the "five" bedroom includes a room in the attic. Also, it has NO back yard. "The Hatems" are an arrogant bunch, to say the least and we will be Fine without them, trust me. Hey pal - why don't you mention that your daughter's house is up for sale, too? She's another "pillar" of Lowell, right? NOT.

He's always been more impressed with himself than anything else. It's surprising he hasn't been able to sell his house since he's been selling Himself for decades. A few years back he actually threw his hat in the ring for the City Manager's job - you should have seen his "resume" - it was more of an autobiography that was like 12 pages long. An absolute Riot. City "can't afford" to lose him. What a Joke. Typical Bob Hatem.

"Now is a great time to buy." We have heard this once a month for the past three years. If you buy now you are catching a falling knife. Never trust a real estate agent. Do your own analysis, the information is out there. If you are interested in funding the retirement of these people, then by all means buy at their inflated prices. Over the next year prices are going to drop dramatically. Now is a great time to rent.

"She said there has been an up tick in open house attendance and buyers seem to have a new confidence." This is not true and makes no sense at all. The number of mortgage applications is dramatically down. House sales and prices are down both month over month and year over year. Unemployment and underemployment are both extremely high. Wages are not increasing. Lending standards are much tighter, significantly reducing the pool of qualified buyers. Appraisals are much more realistic; banks don’t want to get burned. Foreclosures are increasing, which depress prices. If you buy now you are going to be underwater before you fill out your change of address forms. Don’t be fooled about interest rates. If rates go up, it decreases affordability, further dropping prices. You are better off with lower prices, the price won’t change after you buy, interest rates will. The people out there, who purchased during the bubble, used their house like an ATM to get that new addition, vacations, toys, etc, are looking for a bailout. Don’t be their personal bailout. You will soon be in the driver’s seat.

What an obnoxious man!He hasnt done squat for Lowell, and he thinks the city is going to miss him.The article also states he raised his daughters in that house, what happened to his son??did they raise him somewhere else? The house is very dated, small chopped up rooms,no land and believe it or not people Andover St is a lousy place to live. The sound of those cars going over that concrete constantly will drive you crazy, never mind the traffic!Hey Bob lower your price call an interior decorator and hopefully you might sell, because Lowell is really not interested in you or your families bloated ego!

$1.25 mill to buy a house in Lowell ??? You better have some money left over to send your kid to private school. Imagine having all that dough and you end up sending your kid to the lowell school system. kid will end up dodging drug gang bullets in the hallway or having his lunch money taken by an illegitimate dickie ecklund spawn.
