Anyone with price cap with this company, with agreement for lower price if oil drops, feel overcharged with so called lower price? Lower price charged way off actual current cost of oil.Would you consider a class action suit to find out the answer

I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling let down by the "price cap" plan (or lack of). I am paying $2.70/gallon in the Lynn MA area, which is quite close to the Chelsea MA point of delivery. With the economy what it is, I'm not sure if I'm also getting gouged. Unfortunately, my experiences with other local (smaller) oil delivery companies were much worse - including shady dealers doing business under assumed names for three "so-called" different distributors - so that's why I switched to Atlas Glen-mor. At least I knew I would get my oil delivered safely and wasn't dealing with con artists. Good luck to all of us!

Judged: 2 1 1 Also, the so-called market price that you are referring to is most probably some other company's "come-on" low-ball offer to just get your business--it's not the real market. Or, the company that's quoting the price is more a discount guy who gives little if any home service to your heater, not the type of company to protect your home and family. Besides, it was your decision to lock in the cap and from what I read, the price you were charged did go down--just not as low as the cheapest guy on the street! By the way, their service is great. |

Ummm...I don't know if you guys realize (for the most part) what ABC is stating is true. Those of you who are so vehement sound like you just got in an agreement that you either really didn't fully comprehend or are upset that it just didn't benefit you completely. I know people at Atlas Glen-mor that were locked in at under $3 when the price of oil was over $4 (and I mean over $4 everywhere). Yes some companies are more expensive than others but that's because some are full service and some are cash on delivery fly-by-night types. That's like buying inferior tires and then wondering why the treads wore off the whole time totting that you saved on the expensive 'rip off' tires. Or eating somewhere cheap and bragging that your lower grade meal experience saved you money. Listen I'm not one to be against a bargain, but you get what you pay for. Check out AngryIrish.com

I WAS RECORDED WHEN THE CEILING PRICE OF $5.00 WAS OFFERED TO ME. WHILE BEING RECORDED I ASKED WHAT THE CATCH WAS AND WAS I GUARANTEED THE DAILY OIL RATE WITH NO HIDDEN CHARGES IF I AGREED TO SIGN UP. I WAS ASSURED THAT THERE WOULD BE NO CHARGES FOR THE CEILING PRICE, AND THAT I WOULD PAY THE DAILY RATE NOT TO GO OVER $5.00. SO, AS FAR AS NOT FULLY COMPREHENDING.NOT TRUE... WE ARE BEING GOUGED! I HAVE CALLED AND TOLD THEM TO PLAY THE RECORDING BACK. THEY SAID THAT THEY WOULD CALL WITH MY RECORDED CALL AND WE WOULD ALL KNOW WHAT WAS PROMISED. I AM A 50 PLUS YEAR CUSTOMER, NEVER USED ANY OTHER OIL COMPANY. I WAS WITH THEM WHEN THEY WERE QUINCY ADAMS OIL, PETRO, ETC.. I HAVE A SERVICE CONTRACT WITH THEM, I HAD THEM INSTALL A NEW FURNACE, PURCHASED AND HAD THEM INSTALL 2 WATER HEATERS. I LOVE THE PEOPLE THAT WORK FOR THEM AND NEVER THOUGHT OF USING ANYONE ELSE FOR OIL OR SERVICE IN MY HOME. NEW CUSTOMERS ARE GETTING A BETTER DEAL THAN THE PEOPLE THAT HAVE BEEN FAITHFUL TO THEM OVER THE YEARS.

Last year got a contract for AG for a cap $4.06 a gallon. Had them also install a new boiler for $8k. When oil prices dropped I asked if I could renegotiate a lower price. Their answer was "You have to pay $599 to get out of the contract.." I paid and still ended up saving on oil that I bought for half the $4.06 AG price. Watch out when you get into these contracts, they can cost you a lot of money. Will never deal with AG again.

It sounds like most of you just want to complain because of your lack of education. You signed the contract because prices were climbing and at the time you would benefit, But prices went the other way and you lost the bet. The oil company already purchased an estimated amount of gallons for your use on the day of the contract, at that days price, and thats why they cant sell it to you cheaper because AG fronted the money for YOUR oil that YOU agreed too! IF you buy stocks in the stock market for $20 a share and it drops to $10 a share, thats tough luck. abc knows what their talking about.

Well, my contract is finally about to end! Can't wait! I can see them charging a little more per gallon in the cap program to cover their insurance premiums, but I was being charged at least a buck per gallon more than "market" price. Seeya Atlas! I'll support my local guy here on the North Shore of MA with NO CONTRACT!
I do have to say that the AGM employees that do the actual work are very friendly, knowledgeable and professional, and the price/gal is not decided by them. That fact, however, is not enough for me to stay with them. I'm sure I can find a local dealer who is the same in this respect. |

I also have Atlas and they are always much higher than any other company in my area. I noticed since they took over smaller companies and became so big that they do not really care about the consumer, even ones who have been with them for years. I had an oil delivery yesterday and it was for 3.09 per gallon. I check web and other companies and the average charges per gallon were between 2.39 to 2.65. Is this not gouging or what? I found two of thsoe companies that do service calls and plans too. Usually you willbe told by Atlas oil is cheaper but they do not service. WEll that is not always the case. I am going to look into getting a new company. This has been happening for a couple of years now with the pricing. I try to stay loyal but now feel we are all being taken so since they forget loyalty I think I am going to also. We should all leave them or call the attorney general and complain and the better business bureau too.
The employees are friendly but they are not themain owners and the ones making the big bucks off us poor little people. the company may be good but is to expensive and not really competitive. My suggestions if you ahve them check out other companies in your area to save money. |

I just signed up with a service called ClickFil. It's an online service where you can set up either "will call" or auto delivery of oil. You set everything up online - soooo easy. The best thing is they are usually about 30 cents cheaper than other oil companies.(they send you daily oil price updates) It's available in 5 cities/towns right now: Arlington, Lexington, Winchester, Medford and Woburn. Soon they'll be expanding throughout Massachusetts.

This is certainly a company you DO NOT want to do business with. I signed up with them recently after clarifying SEVERAL times that there was NO contract or obligation to stay with them. But after I found out that they were charging extremely high prices - I canceled my contract.
Several weeks later after I had already canceled a 'service contract' magically appeared in my mail that they said I had to sign (which I never did). Subsequently they charged me all sorts of 'termination' fees. When I called and protested and pointed out to the fact that the sales person had said categorically that there was NO contract - she flat out lied and said she had told me there was a contract. At this point - I'm stuck between letting AGM oil ruin my credit or paying them all these charges that they categorically stated would NOT apply. I will certainly complain to the BBB and tell whoever I can NEVER to use this company. This company charges you the HIGHEST rates for oil. They also lure you in with false promises and incentives. Worse they charge you fines if you try to terminate your contract in spite of stating that there will be no fine. NEVER trust their word. Do NOT do business with Atlas Glen Mor. |
|
|
You are absolutely right! they promised me as well that there was no catch and then went back on their word. then they try to intimidate you by saying that they will ruin your credit. These guys are liars! Never do business with them!!!
|
|
|
I don't see what gives you the right to judge others without knowing the facts of the situation?
Consider my case - I DID not sign a price cap but just an ordinary contract with daily going rate that they CATEGORICALLY stated was terminate-at-will (no obligation on my part). When I cancelled many weeks later they sent me a modified contract that said something completely different. Now what the hell am I supposed to do given that the company is lying and threatening to ruin my credit? Check before making false accusations!
