I'm a Jesus Freak as you say, and I happen to like the Harry Potter books. Quit stereotyping.

This woman admitted she hasn't even read any of the Harry Potter books. How can you protest against something you haven't even read?

Obviously she hasn't read the books -- the words Wicca, Wiccan, or pagan are nver used in the book. She is just regurgitating what she has been told, most likely by a minister or pastor.

This typifies what is wrong with our society as a whole today. Everyone takes what they are spoonfed by others and assumes it is the truth without any research or thought themselves.

Amen! The Dumbing Down of America started with the advent of network TV and our society swallowed it hook, line and sinker.
I know otherwise reasonable adults that believe everything they see on television.

This woman needs a hobby. She needs to stop trying to force her religious views on the children of others in her community. not everyone is christian in this world.

So, what's wrong with Wicca? I know someone who practices it and she is the most fun-loving person there is. To each his/her own, I say! She is obviously a woman that stays home with her kids, doesn't work and has way too much time on her hands! I got an idea to kill time, Try reading a Harry Potter book!

I'm sure she has knowledge of the bible the exact same way she does about the HP books. She is one of those that learn from OTHERS telling her. Which includes what to think about this and that. Not taking the time to read and use her own mind.

She will never understand why others don't follow the same blind path.

And she will never understand that others think she is stupid and uneducated.

It seems to me that this woman may have caught her children doing something in the books so maybe that is why she wants to ban them. Personally I think the christians need to question their own beliefs before they try and be a critic on mine. At least the wiccans of this work live by the reed and don't just speak about it.

This is still nothing compared to when the teeny litle volunteer fire company in Lancaster County, PA boycotted a local YWCA fundraiser a few years ago because they had HP books in the library, and it made news in Taiwan....

This woman is ignorant and an idiot. If she did one bit of legitimate research on the Wiccan religion, she would know that her claims are wrong and that Harry Potter has nothing to do with Wicca. I'm not even Wiccan and I know that.

Thats the problem 'Fed Up'. Some groups in our religan don't allow such research. They say that it's because the 'devil' will lead their flock astray. Kinda like a drug dealer leading someone down the path to become a drug addict. The flock understand the reasoning that way. Drugs are bad, don't even go near it. Same thing with things that have been connect to the 'devil.'

In our faith, anything that isn't leading one to Christ, is leading a person to the Devil. Hence, everything not of the 'chruch' is leading the flock to the devil.

So there is alot of discouragement to go out there and learn. Not when they are told they might loose their soal in the process. Kinda like 'might' become a cocane addict or worse.

That is why that lady don't feel the need to actually read the book. Why she is very comfortable with OTHERS telling her it is 'bad'.

That doesn't leave much room to question. But the bible tells us to question and to seak wisdom. Very few catch that part. Such a thing takes effort. Something that many don't want to seem to do. They rather be told. Personaly, I think that they might deep down think they will be able to go before God and claim innocences if they way the 'practice' is in error. They are thinking they will be able to leave all that burden on someone elses shoulders. They just did what they were told to do. Never mind they choose the group they wish to follow. After becoming a member, they vote on who leads the flock, etc. They are choosing the message they wish to hear.

If she has a problem with these books then it is up to her to watch her kids and not let them read the books. Do not take away good and entertaining books from other people because of one persons prejudice. And further more she should spend less time trying to ban things she does not understand and more time trying to educate herself about things in this world, including our amendments!!!!!!!!

She's not the only ignorant person in that town. Will someone please tell me where you can find a witch in "Cinderella?" There's a fairy godmother, but no witch. Maybe she was thinking of Snow White or some other Disney character.

Yes, I think you've hit this on the ol' nutshell. It's infuriating though because these are the people that seem to crawl out of the woodworks every day to torment the rest of us thinking folk! These are the people that give Christianity it's bad rep for having "Jesus Freaks." Every religion has them, unfortunately. It just seems like lately those of the Christian faith have been running amock! Also, not thinking for themselves is how the "church" has been controlling people since the Middle Ages, but that's a whole different subject. LOL! Actually, it's how most cults control people as well.

At again!? What the hell is wrong with them!? This lady needs to get a life! Or maybe she should READ the book! Everyone needs to stop hating so much on Harry. I don't remember Wicca ever being said in the book, they have Christmas!!! Plus why are they so hard on Wicca? Is it not concidered a religion too? You can't hate on religions!!! No matter how much you might not like it.

i understand this woman wanting to keep evil from other children but it was taken to an extreme which is also bad... and not many people know but the author of the Harry Potter books (J.K. Rowling) is a satanist... and the book is based around witchcraft which is strictly forbidden and considered evil to us (Christians)... i understand her intentions were true and right but the way she went about it was ALL wrong... and in my opinion i don't think you will be "condemned to Hell" if you read these books... it is just a form of entertainment... but you have to have good judgement of reality to be able to understand meanings of books like this and children usually do not... so i understand both points of the story... that she didn't want in the schools and that is shouldn't make a difference if it IS in schools.
