Imaginary Jesus just can seem to agree on anything but Hell for all others not of the same imagination. That's the stuff Holy Columbustan is made of.

It never ceases to amaze me how religious people change the rules to fit their situation. The Pope changes the rules of religion all the time. If I'm not mistaken, I believe even some of the words in the Bible have been recently changed.

With all the many and varied religions in the world, each one's followers claim only their's is the true faith and all the others are not.

Doesn't this seem silly to you? Or chancy, at best? Sort of like the lottery, isn't it?

Amidst all of the commentary for and against the books over the years, people always overlooked the most important thing about the Harry Potter series: It got kids to read books. That's a huge accomplishment in today's instant entertainment society. Read on America!!!

Why can't they just keep their noses out of stuff? Who effing cares who they "forgive"? I'm pretty sure J.K. Rowling really didn't give a rat's ass who criticized her books.

Just demonstrates that forgiveness is not a gift for the forgiven. It is a process that heals the forgiver.

Despite the best efforts of prescriptivists, the words of the Bible--and our understanding of them--have always been in a state of flux. The words themselves may have been divinely inspired, but they were transmitted and understood in human language(s). Not so much changing the rules as it is people learning and growing.

I wouldn't call the Bible a novel. There are historical narratives, letters, books of poetry, books of the law--and depending on your acceptance of Jesus--biography.

Religious leaders went on to forgive Pippi Longstocking for living alone as a single woman, and Winnie The Pooh for theft of honey.

How infinitely righteous of them.. To bestow their "forgiveness" upon the tenets of a fictional story. I'm sure their god will take comfort in the fact that this segment of humankind is nobly passing judgement in his name. Bravo. FWIW, I forgive them for their ignorance.
