HERE'S COPART'S B.S.FEES. THEY SCREW YOU ALMOST AS BAD AS THE GOVERNMENT--- If a winning bid was placed on a vehicle using a kiosk located at that yard, no internet fees are assessed against that vehicle. If the winning high bid was placed over the internet, whether placed through Preliminary Bidding or through Virtual Bidding on VB2 – the following fees will apply: a fee of $35 for sale prices from $1.00 -$999.99, a fee of $50 for sale prices from $1,000.00 -$1,999.99, a fee of $75 for sales prices of $2,000 or higher. FOR NOT SITTING IN THEIR FACILITY TO BID Copart Gate Fee FOR MOVING YOUR VEHICLE PROBABLY NO MORE THAN 100 FEET WITH A FORKLIFT A $30.00 Gate/Loading fee is assessed to all vehicles. This fee covers the movement of the vehicle from Copart’s sale/storage facilities to the buyer’s loading area. For buyers whom are picking up the vehicle up with vehicle transporters, this fee covers the time and manpower required to assist the driver in loading the vehicle onto the truck. Drivers are 100% responsible for securing their load at all times. Copart Additional Fees (if applicable): If a vehicle and all applicable fees are not completely paid within 3 business days of purchase including the sale day, a fee of $50.00 per vehicles will be assessed. In addition, storage will begin to accrue on vehicles at the rate of $20.00 per day after 7 days, including sale day, if the high bid was placed over the internet or after 3 days, including sale day, if the high bid was place during preliminary biding using a kiosk at the yard.

I'm selling my car to them. and I was told they auction off the cars as used. Hmm... Well sorry, but they are paying me more than it's worth so sorry you got screwed. But why would you buy a car w/o looking at it first?!

Yes they paid me by check and it did clear the bank. Only one problem. They lowered my price by $50 after I had already had it towed there and sighned the lease and said it was bc of a tear in the seat depreciating the value. I had told them ab it before but they said no one put it on file. Also they were very rude. However it was a quick way to get cash and totally worth it.

I bidded on a car and was out bidded, but got a call two days later i got a call saying i won. The car said minor dents and scracthes nothing mechanical, so i went thenext day to get the car, body was great but when i drove it off the lot it smelled like burnt oil. Had someone look at it he told me my coolant hose was leaking. Ok cool, drove home then it started smoking, got home and popped the hood and saw a yellowish fluid all over the m.otor. I got it towed to a mechanic, i only paid 1150 for the car not including the fees and taxes, come to find out the head gasket was blown,it was water in the oil, and of course bad coolant hose,250to get fixed. I took the car back to copart and thank goodness i got my money back. Only buy cars for parts not for personal use. But if you do please get it check out first i learned my lesson.

Well let me tell you about my experience. A friend told me about this web site to be able to get a decent car at a good price. Well I got an account and went on and bought a car. Well I was excited because I did some research before buying, such as how to look for a good deal (or at least thought I did) and went I went to go pick it up. I tried to start it and nothing, well maybe because it had no key. Well in the auction they said it had keys and it “runs and drives” Now let me tell you what happened next. Well I went back up to the counter and told them the keys were missing and it did not run and drive “hence no key” Well they are wow no key someone must have taken them (acted like it was not their problem). Also told me they don’t guaranty keys and put a copied print out of a part of online agreement (Which by the way conflicts with their member protection guarantee), and it was my problem and have no problem defrauding the customers at auction time stating that they have the keys and supposebly one hour before they don’t let anyone around the cars. So that leads me to believe they don’t check the cars before they go on the auction block (Which leads me to believe they are lazy and dishonest. Also let me tell you about how run and drive guarantee works they start it, put in drive and drive forward a few yards then stop and put in reverse. If it can do that it is run and drives guaranteed *Spit*. Well after long talk with them they decided to have a lock smith come out to rekey the car (Or so they said). Well they were unable to do it that day so I have to go home to Raleigh and then drive back out the next week (2 hour drive on the norm). Well went to get the car and low and behold the key was there, but again did not start “hence run and drive right?” Well got a jump and it started. Pulling out of the drive way it would not shift right. Well I was like hell I have been had but maybe it’s not that bad. Well got it home 3 hours later driving in second gear (took forever). Well figured out it was the transmission. So it sat for a month in that time killed the battery had it towed to a transmission shop. The transmission shop called me saying the cars immobilizer was not reading the chip in the key. Well I went there called a lock smith and the keys they gave me did not have a chip. They tried and tried to start it with the key well let’s just say Copart got over on me again they were not even chipped. Even the lock smith was questioning this one. But when I started it I did not shut it off till I got home in Wendell. Well come to find out there is tow was for this to happen they find an odd ball key and program the chip to it and type it close to the ignition or set the car in emergency mode to start with the key one time then it would not start again “hence with the transmission I did not stop it till I got home”. Well so I was like damn it $174 rekey. Buyer be where they deceive member to sell cars and will go as far and deceiving in pictures taking bad angles and blurry pictures to cover up damage. Member Protection Pledge (They are there for the person selling and not for the buyer) Enhanced Vehicle (Does this not scream rip off the customer) Vehicles listed as "Enhanced Vehicles" are those where:(i) the seller has authorized Copart to perform an enhancement service to the vehicle such as a wash and vacuum or protective covering or (ii) the vehicle is under a program that gives Copart discretion to utilize enhancement services to maximize the value of the vehicle. This designation does not guarantee that any enhancement service was completed but rather indicates that qualifying vehicles would likely be enhanced. It is the Member's responsibility to inspect and verify the utilization of enhancement services.

The very idea of the public being able to purchase from Copart is scary. You need to be a license dealer and a dismantler / auotbody shop, this is Copart's very own words. Do you know what you are in for, Copart will not tell you how to legally rebuild a vehicle and get a rebuilt title so you can license it, or how much damage was done to what you are bidding on. There is lots of legal channels you have to take to be able to drive a car you purchased at Copart I have been building cars for 40 years, I have bought from Copart and I always expect hidden damage you can't see in pictures, or the fork lift riped out the transmission or suspension, hey I travel to check the cars out first before bidding because Copart definition of run/drive is no guarantee the vehicle will drive. The car I have seen first and bid on is not the same car when I get it delivered to me, The fork lift destroys these cars or somebody who wanted that car who got out bid by you has vandalized it in retaliation or the radiator has no coolant and somebody has let it run and it overheated cracking the head or locking up the engine. EVERYTIME I bought a clean title car at Copart (a dealer car signified with a letter (P) next to the type of title it takes Copart a month or better to get you the title, that is illegal first off and Copart expects you to pay for the car with no guaranty when you will get the title and another factor to a dealer selling their cars at Copart is you are getting a vehicle they can't sell without getting in trouble with the consumer protection laws. When a dealer sells there junk at Copart, you have no recourse, nobody to fall back on and all Copart will tell you is you don't have to purchase the car but you owe a $400.00 no sell fee and talk about fees, Copart has fees for fees, like a gate fee and internet fee, a sale fee so most of the time your purchase will cost you hundreds more than your bid. OH YEAH, you got 7 days to get the vehicle out after you won the bid and if their not open, weekends or holidays, guess what that 7 days keeps on ticking and after 7 days it's storage fees or you got 2 days to pay for the winning bid and the same thing goes even the days they are closed, the clock keeps on going and after 2 days you have late pay fees, I read something about Copart being a fortune 500 company, is it no wonders, they got there by their hidden fees, so a simple 1000 dollar car will cost you 1800 when you arrive to claim your prise. Beware of buying a clean title car because everytime it will be a junk car. The public also will let Copart sell their junk because they can't seem to find a sucker to buy it and Copart don't care if they do because it's all about the money. Are you asking yourself how does this guy know all of this, I have purchased vehicles from Copart and the above info is what always happens when you purchase from Copart. So you want to lose your hard earn cash, and get a junk car, go ahead bid at Copart, that is what your in for, BEWARE, I got lots of horror stories about what Copart has done to me, don't let them do it to you

copart member wrote: Maybe you should have researched the company or called the location before you bought something to verify that they sold "Insurance Total Loss" vehicles...... COPART needs not to be in the business of selling to the public, they are a salvage pool and all you will ever get is junk from Copart

I have bought over a 100 cars from in the past year and a half and never had problems with them. I think most people who buy from copart don't know that they sell total loss claim cars that needs repair.

Bought a 2010 maxima just last week, listing said run and drive but once the car was on its way to my house the transporter said the car don't run. Then once I inspected it, the transmission module had a hole in it like someone stabbed and the front was inside the and all the tires are flat. Never again will I buy from these people it's not worth it.
