I too have just started this diet, and from what i hear depending on how well u adhere to the limitions (NO FOOD and PLEANTY of WATER!!!) you should lose the 100 in a mater of maybe 4 to 5 months. but why for throught the surgery if you are going to loose the weight so fast naturly? keep me posted on your progress and ill do the same.

I just started this diet one month ago, I am seeing a Dr. in Beverly Hills, I have lost 30lbs so far and have 70 more to go, how much weight can you really lose with this diet, I see a lot of people losing a lot of weight at the Dr. I go to, he was highly recommended and I needed to go on a rapid weight loss program because I need to have surgery. My surgeon will not do it until I lose at least 100 lbs. It's hard especially during the holidays. My Dr. has been great with working with me, he recommends me to take injections if amino acids also. I have talked to other people in his office and seen great results to, Does anyone else see Dr. Kerendian and do the same progam I am doing?
I have done Optifast in the past and have great luck with it. I lost 86 pounds in about 6 months. I lost 55 pounds in three months and the last 30+ pounds took a while. Unfortunately, the backlash of Optifast is you have to learn to eat better for a lifetime. But, it is the best for losing weight quickly. GOOD LUCK

I am about to start Optifast 800, the doc told me I would probably lose about 50 pounds in 6 months if I work out every day and stick to the program perfectly. I wonder why it is faster weight loss for the rest of you.

He never said anything about the surgery being for weight loss. Perhaps it's for something orthopedic and this person has to lose the weight for rehab. purposes.

I am considering the Opti-Fast plan and I am interested in how hard is it to maintain the diet after the you finish the fasting and start on regular food?

I have just started on the diet, I have been on it for about two weeks. I see people saying how much they've lost in such a short amount of time. I in my own opinion have lost no weight and i'm doing it perfectly (Meaning no food!). Could someone please tell me if this is normal and if I should actually stick to it?

Anna and Alicia....

Optifast requires that you drink a gallon daily, so you could show as having gained up to 8 pounds with all that liquid in you. Wait for the 2nd week, wear the same type of clothes (i.e. jeans and a sweater every time, not a tank top and then heavier clothes the next time so you get discouraged), and I swear you will start to see a pretty steady 3-4 pounds each week. DO NOT do weights or more than walking, or you could gain or even lose hair, as this sends your body into starvation mode. Your provider should have told you this....talk to them about how much you're exercising.

YES you should stick with it! It works! You should also change your attitude over the course of your experience, which I say with kindness but honesty, as the pounds will come right back if you quit when weight management is difficult.

Hi,

I just finished my first week with Optifast and lost 4 lbs. I had a cousin who lost total about 50 lbs over 6 months and the first week or two her weight loss was minimal.

I have been on the program for 5 weeks now with a weight loss goal of 85 pounds. I have stuck to it and have lost 25 pounds so far. I have not been exercising with any regularity this winter and need to get back into it. I lost 14 in the first two weeks and then it slowed down considerably. You have to have the right mental commitment to this but it works and I am rarely hungry.

Okay I am seriously considering going on Optifast. However, I am worried about the statistics. 95% gain their weight back? Not very encouraging. Has anyone kept their weight off with this plan?
