all you have to do is read the storys of depression and suicide by hollywood types and other rich folk..

nobodys 100% happy all the time anyway,rich or poor....both have problems and troubles...doesn't the good lord say: "mans life is short and full of troubles"..

we got mountain folk up here in canada ....i've known some as good friends....did welding on my cars and bikes...shared some laughs...

one of them wanted to paint his 1959 fargo pickup truck.....so he went to the local thrift shop and bought a one gallon can of lime green housepaint.....and brushed it on the truck...its still on there 4 years later...not bad for a $3.00 paint job..

does that mean that all indian reservations should be abolished because they are just a part of history. I think not the confederaTE flag means as much to southerners as reservations mean to the native americans, it would be wrong to take that right from either.

fly it at your home..fly it on your truck/car.. but don't do it on a public building which is supposed to represent the public.. Such as a govt. building.. I didn't say get rid of it because it was a piece of history.. You should embrace your history.. But still yet, it doesn't need to be flown on a capitol building or on any govt. building.. We should embrace our history but be respectful to others.. What do you expect the states that were the orginal 13colonies to fly the flag of England?? Thats their history? What about Louisana, expect them to fly the flag of France? Or Florida with Spain?? Seriously.. Think about it..

Even if they did fly the flag of their history who cares. Slavery did not start the war it was only introduced when lincoln thought he was going to lose so he could gain support for his side of the war. So the flag has actually nothing to do with slavery and i have said it before everyone needs to check their history alotof black men died fighting for the south to have the right to fly that flag there were numerous black soldiers who died while fighting for the south and so for blacks to ask for the flag to be removed is ironic as hell i wonder if they could look those soldiers in the face and tell them that they want it removed. it is just something else to bitch about. i do understand what you are saying and i agree but i also agree with honoring all of the men who died fighting for their beliefs.

I just find it funny how ignorant people are on this issue. I mean, you people who are saying "it's all about hate, racism, slavery etc." really have no idea about true history. I mean how can you when you make statements like that? Not all of your answers are to be found in your precious television (where all of your stereotypes seem to be based). Plus, why criticize the confederate flag when slavery existed longer under an American flag than the confederate flag was forged for a five year war! The ignorance is nauseating! And I bet it was so "humane" for the north to free the slaves and then use them out west to slaughter Indians immediately after the civil war, I mean war of northern aggression.

Like Whoopi says it means different things to different people!(the N' word) So let me have mine, you take yours! PC SUCKS!!!

Back in the early '90s, two guys in Columbia had a store called NuSouth. They had a really neat Stars & Bars: the background was red, the bars were black and the stars were green. They said Hey, black people are Southerners too!

The conferate flag, I have a question, should we fly the germany flag? they lost to us and there are proud germanys in the United States as well as South Carolina. How about the Japanes Flag? there are many proud Japanes in the US and SC. Soon we can fly the iraq flag and Afganistan flag. If you want to show pride it's cool but remember the ones who might be hurt because you want to show your pride. the KKK and other White Hate Groups use that flag as a way of scare or placing fear in the hearts and minds in blacks and non- white americans. As a Soldier i've severed with all kinds of races and realize that there are no true white or black American. if you drop the battle flag just maybe the relationship of black and white american can be mended. i've see more and more white and black relationship in the military. yes there is a races problem in the Army, White Hate Groups are big here, but they do not run the Army. I fight for one FLAG THE US FLAG not the union battle flag , but the old glorly and those color NEVER RUN

The Confederate flag represents a unity of these great American states.

It has nothing to do with any foreign war.

It represents us - all Americans, black, white and all colors in between.

We should be proud of what it represents, our history and what the Civil War changed.

It is our proud heritage and we should NEVER be ashamed of it!
