You all that are hating on rap listen to this: Your not changing the 5 people who actually go onto this websight!! No music does not change a person, think about what your saying!! No one gives a crap about white little gansters listening to it, or the fricken punctiation police!! I'm trying to make a point and that is that- stay the frick out of who ever listens to what. if they are talking about you being a whore in that music, then be a little pissed, but if not just get your nosey butt out of other peoples lives!! And every type of music is bad, its just that people blame rap for being the only one because MC's arnt afraid to come out and say what needs to be said unlike all those retarded artists!

The lyrical content of many early rap groups concentrated on social issues. The emergence of gangsta rap in the early 1990s, however, emphasis shifted from social issues to drugs, violence, and misogyny. Tony Tone, a member of the pioneering rap group the Cold Crush Brothers, noted that "hip hop saved a lot of live". MC Kid Lucky stated that people used to break dance against each other instead of fighting. Inspired by DJ Kool Herc, Afrika Bambaataa created a street organization called Universal Zulu Nation, centered around hip hop, as a means to draw teenagers out of gang life and violence. I don't know if that organization has had any influence on today's young people. What do you think?

Lots of country singers talk about drinking beer, beating their wives, driving big trucks and going to their white church. Doesn't mean all country is horrible and its bad for kids and redneck trailer trash. Same goes for rap. Plug. |
I'm thirteen and agree with this 100%. Rap is nothing more than some random droopy-pants moron making rude, senseless inferences to the tune of irritating scratches and synthesizers. Hooligans are what they are, and they need to shut their mouths before they screw up the future of humanity into a cyberpunk crackpot. |

Today's rap music focuses more on drugs, violence, and misogyny than social issues, which, by the way, was very prevalent during the 1970s and 1980s of old school rap. I can understand your fustration about the annoyance of hip hop. Hip hop has givin, however', millions of black listeners a voice. It has also given them hope for the future and something to look forward to. For many hip hop artists like Ice-t and 50 cent, it has allowed them to live the good life. If it wasn't for hip hop music, millions of black youth would be trapped in a world where they would fine themselves listening to either country or rock music. Which music genre would you rather listen to? Country, rock or rap music? On a further note, I think hip-hop music can be very uplifting when it comes to addressing important social issues on a timely scale about today's troubled world we live in. I like to think of new school hip hop as being a very important way to stay current on today's current news events. But at the same time, I tend to frown at what gangsta rappers are rapping about because they're only inspiring lots of young listeners who are troubled to commit acts of violence toward women and other people who are innocent. |

If it wasn't for most rappers using profanity in their music, then most people like me wouldn't really care for it, nonetheless, some of us would still listen to it. The profanity content is what draws some listeners to listen to hip hop music. It's usually young people who have an inclination to use profanity who tend to listen to rap music that contains profanity. To them, profanity is an opportunity for them to get their message across to those who wouldn't normally listen to them if tey didn't use profanity. As a side note, profanity can be used to help intensify the situation if needed, thereby making it more enjoyable for those who like profanity. There's this song that's called "Ain't Saying Nothin' New", which is a song that's featured on the album "Things Fall Apart" by The Roots. What I like about that song is that the rapper used just a little bit of profanity to get his message across to his listeners. Sometimes profanity can add a certain amount of eloquence to a song, which is what really gets peoples' attention. For example, let's say I said, "please be quiet", would you listen to me? Probably not! But if I said "shut the f*ck up b*tch"!! I bet that would get your attention.
