At least 2180 hectares of land and 6 kilometers of roads may face river erosion along the Jamuna, the Ganga and the Padma rivers during the monsoon this year, Centre for Environmental and Geographic Information Services said yesterday.
Please look at Google Map at 23*56' N and 89*19' E (Pabna -Bhowdanga) to find north eastern flow of a narrow strip from Main Padma River, dividing a land worth 10 KM x 3 KM from the main land. Every year during the rainy season flood water from Main Padma river flows in and erodes/ destroys the paddy fields covering by sand causing huge sufferings to local people.
Govt is spending lot of money for 100 day works program for survival of the poor people in the villages. A portion of this money can be utilized to make a barrier and close this opening. This will protect a big area from erosion and disasters.
If you agree to it, please discuss it with proper authorities such as D.C. Pabna / Ministry of Water Resources/ Ministry of Relief etc.
