Wolves owner: Moves make Kevin McHale's exit clearer

the wolves had time to prepare for the draft and end up with a player that is already under contract in spain, hello, didn't they do there home work? with flynn, curry etc. in the draft, they take a young kid with a contract? well, we have been put back another few years of rebuilding. Lets see? maybe next year or the year after they will draft three power forwards.

You didn't really think they were going to turn it around and be competitive this year, or even the following year did you? They only had two pieces on the team (Jefferson & Love) that are above average. By drafting both Flynn & Rubio, hopefully at least one of them turns out to be great (might have to wait a couple years for Rubio but he is only 18 years old). They will have a high draft choice and possibly another couple of 1st rounders next year to make further improvements. This team is finally working towards something that could be competitive, but it is going to take at least another couple of years.
The McHale (and Taylor) screwups of the last decade have set this franchise way back and they had to completely clean house and start over.

The only difference I see is that McHale is gone but the architect, Taylor, is still there. What makes you think that in two or three or four or five years the Wolves will be a contender? What appears evident is there draft choices, the reluctancy of anyone to coach the Wolves, and the owners willingness to throw McHale under the bus even though McHale defended and covered for Taylor though out McHale's tenure.

You're right, I don't know that in a few years they will be a contender. But, the team had to be completely blown up and start over for anything positive to possibly happen in the semi-near future. Kahn has now done this. Now it is hoping that some of these high draft choices from this year and next, along with Love and Jefferson and maybe a good free agent pickup a few years down the road can make them a contender.
It's not a guarantee, but it seems to me they at least they might now stand a fighting chance.

I am surprises that there are 3 people left that care enough about this team to comment.

This team and the other Semi-Pro (Vikings) team will be leaving in a couple of years so who cares?

Isn't this the tatic the Clippers used, reused, and reused, and wasn't their record 19-62 last year. I'm thinking we will become the Minnesota version of the Clippers, if we aren't already. No established player wants to play for the Clippers and I'm betting none want to play for the Timberwolves.

But we picked up Ryan Hollins today! That will be a great starting center for next season. Twolves are already tanking for next years lottery, so we can draft two centers, back to back.

I dont know much about the NBA. But I am a sports fan and I can tell you this. I havent been to a wolves game in 3 years or so, havent cared. But now that Kahn is in and making all these trades, its at least gotten me interested in the team again. Ill probably go to a game or 2 this year to see what the vibe is.

And I'm not all against the whole Rubio thing. Why not draft the potentially great point guard and let him stay in Europe. Hopefully, we have a terrible season this year, get a top 3 draft pick next year and spend a ton of $$ on a free agent veteran. 2 years down the road, Rubio joins in on the mix and then we will be loaded with talent. OR maybe it will be a flop, but who cares, its better than sitting around waiting for Randy Foye to mature for another 5 years.

And I do think we can get some established players in here next summer. This is the NBA and most NBA players are all about the $$, and we have it next summer.
