Good move, and not for getting Richardson. It's good becasue you offload three loads and you get one load in return who happen to have an expiring contract.

So when you net it out you get rid of three losers. Five if you count the Wizards trade, and six after next year when you dump Richardson. Seven if you count McHale

On the surface its just an old horse for a bucket of bolts -- not very interesting in either direction. But I'm fascinated with the way Kahn has been playing chess while the old Twolves brain trust only played checkers. I also like the fact that he seems not to suffer fools gladly, that he has pushed Sid over the edge, and that he is giving the finger to all the folks who think we should trade Rubio. I wouldn't want him for a neighbor, but I'd take him for a lawyer. And, truly, it is great to see that venal old hack, Sid, so bent out of shape after sticking his nose in the sphincter of every sports personality in town for the last ten thousand years.

It's kind of scary to wonder who in the world we'll have on the bench next year. Are we going to have a six foot three guy playing backup power forward? The Timberwolves seem to be putting all their eggs in the 2010-2011 basket when they'll have lots of cap room. But which guys have expressed an interest in playing with the Wolves even if they have money to spend? The teams in the NBA are so much better than the Wolves right now that it will take alot and a long time to get into just the playoff picture, much less a championship.

I wouldnt'f traded Iverson to the Rockets..

nice post, i could'nt agree more. Sid and his pals happy to settle for mediocrity and a good old boys club. there mentality is we don't have to be the best since we are not a huge market. They make me sick, Kahn is cleaning house and I like it.

This deal rocks on so many fronts. We clear roster space by sending three salaries out the door and take back one. We get out from under Telfair's contract in 2010. Never mind the fact that Madsen can't play a lick, while Telfair is below average in every skill set. Smith was a good player, at least on offense, and will be missed some.

This team has so many "bigs" that this will help free up some minutes for guys like Pecherov and Love. Maybe now they will have room on the roster for Rodney Carney, if the interest is mutual.

I think you have to give Kahn credit for at least one thing, he isn't afraid to do something, whether it be "wheel and deal" in the draft, or in making trades. Good for him, because the status quo wasn't working out so much.

We still need to stick D on Prince & get a couplement for Nash,Billips, Houston&Spree.. We need more shooters like Mickael Williamss & Pooh Richardson.

i love that kahn is cleaning house! this is great, as long as he keeps the core of the team together (al, flynn, love) then I like these moves. 3 more 1st round picks next year, tons of cap space to hopefully land a big name next summer, and still a possibility of getting rubio to play for us in the future, or trade him for another 1st rounder....

Well I guess the new GM wasnt playing when he said he was gonna change the way things were around here. And it's about time we got rid of Madsen. He was a great guy, but the last thing we need is somebody else who wasnt gonna play, eating up alot of money.
