Editor: Put this do-do on the sports page where it belongs. Front page for the UConn alum rag, yes, but not the Courant.

99% of your readers simply don't care. There is more to CT than UConn.

The deification of Jim Calhoun, high priest at the Vatican in Storrs, Ct, and all that is associated with this is boring and tedious.

Someone explain to me what this has to do with higher education.

Nothing, but make it a hardship to send my kids there. The purpose of UConn is to educate the people of our State not to be a "leading" university. That is why we have the Ivy League.

Nonsense. We should all want UCONN to be a leading university. We should all want it to attract the best and the brightest. I did not go there but why wouldn't we want it to be the best. UCONN should aim to be as good as the Ivies. If your kids cannot get in, oh well, let them go to Eastern, Central, etc or, better yet, pony up and pay for a private school

You miss the point, moron. The cost is excessive for a State school. Other States are way more affordable. No student UConn sports fans are a bunch of "wet dreamers" living through college sports.

Apparently they all get a great education - learning how to skirt the law and take advantage of those around them.

It's "Calhoun Ethics 101"

But you'd better ^%&*(U(-ing WIN. That's the bottom line!

And it is...it's leading the country in recruiting violations, player-criminals, illiterate graduates, etc.

Now THAT is something to be pround of!

Rip has been, and still is, a role model for many. He's a class act and a terrific basketball player.

If he has been getting ripped off because he TRUSTED someone to manage his affairs, that someone should be treated just like Bernie Madoff. Stealing is stealing.

Rip deserves better.

To paraphrase Coach Calhoun "You really can't be that stupid, can you?"
I know that for the simple minded it is difficult to open the pages of any newspaper or click on a few computer keys to look up NCAA Athletic programs with student athletes arrested, convicted, suspended, under sanction. If you had done this you would have seen how stupid, ignorant and foolish your comment is. UCONN's record for student athletes getting into trouble, any kind of trouble, is amazing positive vs most other Div 1 schools with big time sports programs.

"Strive for Mediocrity" is your moto, huh?
UCONN is becoming a well respected academic/research Institution; recognized by independent professional journals.
You want affordability, try Eastern, Western, Southern and/or Central; or Community Colleg route.

Complete BULL - so tell me, a couple of years ago TWO basketball players were suspended for stealing (STEALING!!!!) laptop computers. The ringleader, a high scorer, got suspended for a couple of months. The accomplice, a marginaly player, was expelled. Now YOU tell me how that happened?

We have the violation of the restraining order, the drugs in the SUV (how does an inner city kid, and student, afford an SUV?), the stealing of laptops, the non-"DWI"s, etc. etc. etc., not to mention all the recruiting violations. Take your UCONN rose-colored glasses off and face reality. UCONN and Calhoun and the football program flaunt the recruiting rules AND they attract marginal, semi-literate players all in the name of "winning".

Let's sit around and wait for the next UCONN ex-player commit another murderer.

This story is garbage. It is being used as a distraction so the dumb citizens won't realize until too late that their taxes are being greatly increased.

UConn has a ZERO reputation as well respected academic/reserch institution. There is little, if any, recognition.
