Within 2 years, Odom lost his newborn child to SID's, his brother got murdered and he witnessed another person die. Then after enduring all of that on top of being a Kardashian puppet the team he grew up dreaming of playing for and winning titles with tells him they want to use him as trade bait.

His work ie. the Lakers were his only constant or so he thought and then he didn't even have that.

Going through all of what Lamar Odom did in those two years could or would break any man. Hopefully this layoff will give him an opportunity to get his head straight again.

Lamar is doomed. The Kardashian circus has already ruined him, and when he winds up divorced on national TV from his reality E! wife, and out of an NBA career for good, he all he will have left is that idiot money grubbing friend of his.

Then he needs to hang it up...Everyone has problems and if yours interfere with your job that pays an annual salary more than what most will make in a lifetime, even more reason.

Besides, he started to get depressed after fans were booing him. What does that say about his mentality?

You're right. EVERYONE has problems and is it right that you call for a person's job the minute something interferes with it? Nothing has ever once interfered with your life while you were at work? Who cares what he makes annually, he's still human and he's showing it which is cool with me.

Would you rather Odom be your typical run of the mill guarded and hardened pro athlete with a God complex? It appears so. Cut Odom some slack. We all have to live and learn and go through it. He's just going through it publicly.

This isn't based off ONE particular event or lackluster performance observed, rather, a combination of things all leading up to my initial response that he needs to hang it up. Lamar's problems started after he felt betrayed by upper management of LA...I said it then, he was/is as a "whipped dog".

and yes, people who do not perform consistently get CHOPPED.

On top of what I said above, if you're making a high dollar amount it is, presumably for a reason, correct? and to answer your Q, yes they have and do daily...and if they disrupt my business be it by underperforming or other, depending on the situation, they get the ax!

I would rather Odom either man up and do his job then continue to be falter as a result of his mental instability and frustrations. OR, retire with dignity knowing he had a great career and that many, myself included, appreciate that he's done. Cant go on forever...Just sayin'.
