Kevin Modesti, did you research your facts before writing such an inaccurate, biased, and pointless article? Did you write this only because you had nothing else to write so you were forced to squeeze in this piece of shit so you can receive your paycheck? Because i swear, my 10 year old son can write something better than this. Maybe you should ask him how it's done, and learn from him.

I highly doubt most Laker fans consider Kobe a "necessary evil", last time i checked most L.A fans sympathized with Kobe when he went on a rampage last summer. One of the writers over at the times even said that Kobe gets more love from fans in L.A than any other superstar in their respective fan base.
Although a good idea, i did not like how you tweaked some important facts to suit your article, you should work on that. Anyway besides that i think both superstars live in their own respective worlds and anything one does won't affect the other. Kobe will be Kobe, Manny will be Manny and that's the reason fans adore each player.

From what I have noticed Laker fans adore Kobe. Bill Simmons from ESPN wrote about this too. Kobe is huge with Laker fans. The only people in LA that don't like him are the Clipper fans and non-basketball fans who only look at the negative. But athletes are all babies that just want more than their millions. We should just ignore their complaining and antics for more attention, maybe then it will stop and they can just play what ever sport they are paid to play.

This was enjoyable to read. Good stuff.... Necessary evil withregards to Kobe. I like that and to come to think about it. He is the necessary evil of sports. The guys has been link to so much drama since living highschool skippin college and off to the pros with matters on and off the court. But the most interesting thing about Kobe is he still around. Doing his thing in life. I know many pros who would have disappeard away from it all. But not this guy, Its as if he is planning it all, he is not your avearage athlete. He is smart, almost like a politcian. He woes the fans and challanges management. He is hated and loved at the same time by alot of people. He is truly one of kind. He stands out both good and bad at the same time. But then again this is sports. In this business after you won a few championships, rewards, and gotten huge salaries. You do become smarter and more aware of how things our. That is way we see hold outs and trade demands in all professions. I'll just say this about Kobe. He is ALL the GOOD, the BAD, and the UGLY about sports. But he is really good at what he does. Love him or hate. You'll be watching him, cause you just can't turn away. He got you where he wants you. LOL

okay...this guy lives in the freakin past...I mean...He thinks Laker fans despise Kobe...what a sad reporter trying to get people to read his garbage. Laker fans love Kobe. He only asked for a trade ONCE...but this reporter wants to make itseem like he's done itfor years. He goes on to say Kobe (and soley Kobe) brokeup the Lakers winning....yeah losing to the Pistons In the Championship is "really winning" with players like KarlMalone and GaryPayton. Everyone has a bad game...blaming Kobe for , like 4 years ago, not taking a shot. Then he disses Kobe's sexual case (again after likebillions of others had already done). "Kobe's act is like a 12-year old"come on now...thats like saying this reporter knows whathe's talking about....did Kobe have any complaints this whole season (NO) so just drop it...KOBE IS LOVED BY FANS!!!! Kobe doesn't need Manny Ramirez to give him advice for anything...

Everything in your article was accurate until the end when you said Kobe Bryant isn't quite loved by Lakers fans. I've been a fan of the Lakers for as long as he has been in the league (about 12 years) and have been to plenty of games and always pay attention to whats going on with the team, and let me tell you something... we love Kobe Bryant. Yes, he's done some very immature things and acted like a fool here n there. But at the end of the day, we don't want to see him wear another uniform. In case you haven't noticed, Staples Center still sells out... because of him.
But other then that, nice article!

A lot of the comparisons are true, but L.A. fans despising kobe is totally and utterly false. L.A. fans love kobe and defend him on so many levels, so i dont know what you are talking about all.

Kobe fans have been through just about every controversy an athlete can go through and still chants of MVP ring in arenas all over. I guess two scoring titles, an 81 point game, an MVP trophy and taking a young, injury plagued team to within 2 wins of a championship against a talent loaded juggernaut in Boston is a great way to kiss and make up with the fans.
