Draft may re-stoke Heat

Full story: South Florida Sun-Sentinel

If there's anything good to come out of this increasingly miserable Heat season, it's that it's probably headed for the draft lottery.

We need to let some of the young talent help us win games, stop scripting plays,. stop laying a boring ineffective "help defense" and let Riles go back up stairs. That in itself are all ways to help his team.

We've already won a title, we need to build smart towards another one and stop trying for the quick fix because we have shaq.

'But what is certain is the Heat has a better chance of finding a cheap impact player in the lottery, and it has little chance if it makes the playoffs."

Playoffs..... PLAYOFFS! Are you kidding me? The Heat ain't makin' the playoffs Michael.

Please allow me to quote another excerpt from this article.

"The draft, even one potentially rich with prospects, provides no assurances even if you don't consider the random movement of pingpong balls in a chamber."

Long ago I gave up believing the ping pong balls that came out of that "hopper" did so with any random consequence.
Until I personally get to inspect the hopper and the area around it and have the ping pong balls scientifically tested and weighed I will continue to believe the lottery is bogus - fixed.

At the very least the system needs to be shelved and the team with the worst record gets the first pick. If games are tanked then
make the penalties for that so severe that no one would dare try to tank a game to move up in the order.

People need to watch more college basketball. Yes, Beasley is putting up big numbers but for all of Beasley's hype he is closer to 6'5" than 6'9". The Heat already has an r undersized power forward. Mayo is a volume shooter who turns the ball over quite a bit. How long would he last on the floor when Riley gets fed up with the turnovers? Hibbert is 7'2" but he's slow and unathletic. Might be a perfect fit in Riley's walk and clank offense and everyone knows Riley loves big guys. Rose might be the special player the Heat need. Rose is a big point guard 6'4" athletic and a willing defender. Not a good shooter but he's quick and get in the lane.

How can you even imply that Wade's contract is hampering the teams payroll when we have a 20mil per year paperweight named, well you know his name. Interseting angle on the story, but you chose to write about the wrong heat player's contract as a hinderance.

So, do poorly and get a GREAT pick, or do well and get NO pick at all. The decision seems to be self-evident. Time to pull a San Antonio, tank the season (what the heck is a Shaq Tax) and get a Duncan so that we have two All-Stars for the next ten years. Shaq retires, giving us the cap room to fill in another couple of holes, and we have a solid team back in the playoffs. Plus, we can say we were not tanking, but just giving our young players a chance to develop in clutch situations. Wade gets his 30 ppg, goes to the All-Star game, and Cook and Quinn get some needed experience.

The heat need a point guard to compliment Wade. They also need a small fwd. Haslem is a good small fwd., but he is not quick enough to play the small fwd. on defense. (haslem would ride the bench and other teams.) Now power fwd postion. We Have NO POWER FWD. if we had one. Shaq may have a better chance. He is the only inside threat we have and at his age he can't fend off the players like he used to. If we had another inside presence shaq may also have better numbers. There are glaring holes on this team and one draft won't fix it. Davis, jason williams, etc. can't play with a aging shaq. they diffrent games then shaq at this stage. If you took williams, davis, haslem, wade, and Wright and put any of them on Phoenix and they would be stars. We can't play that up tempo game with shaq. We need up tempo. Wright who has been a failure here will be a star on another squad when he is put into a role where offense is a priority over defense.

what do you mean how can he imply he is not implying thats the fact that both wade and shaqs contract are hampering them. at least shaq took a paycut to get other players, lets see wade do that to help the team out. and there big contracts are killing the heat, if you give one guy most of the money don't expect the team to sign any other good players to put around them becaue they can't.

the heat are doing pretty bad they could step it up over 40 games left. they need to build around wade as much as possibe. i personnally dont think its fair for my favorite player Dwyane Wade to play his heart out every night of his carrer and not have any backup or wins. ive seen shaq show up 3 times this year the need him and everyone to do that. it seems that when shaq and/or wade is gone everyone shows up which proves they arent playiong as hard as they can im not complainingeverybody on the roster is good even amazing if they try i know they can after all they are the heat

Let's take a breath and look at what needs to be done.

-Trade the first overall choice to the Chicago Bulls for point guard Kirk Heinrich (he has bball smarts)

-Move Wade to Minnesota for Antoine Walker (we havent been the same since he left)

-Unload Haslem for Bonzi Wells (we'll need a point guard with Wade's departure and every team needs one dude with a head band)

Return Dorell Wright to the starting line up (that way we'll have two forwards who can't shoot or drive)

As soon as Shaq returns from injury we'll the foundation for our dynasty.

Can you say...championship.

Rose would be perfect. He's a pass-first point guard and would be the starter from Day 1. And guys like that are as hard to find as quality big men, if not harder. And in today's guard-first NBA, a Wade/Rose backcourt would potentially be one of the best.

The Heat is not the best team, but injuries have played a huge part of the record. Jason Williams, Wade, Shaq and Mourning have all missed big parts of the season, thats 3 starters and your top reserve. No team could do well with that.
I see this season as a blessing in disguise. We are giving the young players important game time, and in the draft this year and probably the next with possible mid-level free agents, we will have a great team again, and hey, we won the championship two years ago so we are not doing so bad really

Wright would be a great playing in PHX or similar fast offensive team. Maybe we could trade him for a draft pick to one of those teams and get something for him because he isnt doing squat for the Heat

One name that isn't on the list of players mentioned in the article is the STUD out of Bloomington, Indiana...Hoosier stand-out Eric Gordon! The kid can absolutely score averaging 23.5 ppg as a fresheman! He is a mix of D-Wade and Ray Allen. He drives and gets to the bucket as well as the freethrow line like Wade, but also has a deadly NBA 3 point range shot like Allen. Wade and Gordon would be the highest scoring backcourt in the league. What Wade needs is a running mate and Air Gordon fits the bill!!!

Still waiting for someone to admit it was not all Antoine Walkers fault this team didn't win last year but expecting class from Miami is like expecting class from the Celtics organization ran by Grousbeck.

Wade is not a real star. Lebron is and Lebron has proven he can lead a team with little talent. Wade has more talent on this team and he can't lead them anywhere

Hey Ira Sucks u must be stupid. Wade is much more of a star in the playoffs than Lebron. If i do remember correctly Wade was not only a Finals MVP, he also Has a Championship.Lebron got swept. As a matter of fact didn't Lebron have all the hype in the 2003 draft class? No championship,no comparison. WADE ALL DAY ova Lebron

It wont matter if we do get a good pick , because Riley doesnt play rookies. The only way we were introduce to D wade early was because of Stan !!!!
