Full story: Newsday

We typically do "matchups" as the Mets and Yankees prepare to renew their RFK Bridge rivalry, but we just did them two weeks ago.

I don't know how you came to those scores, but the bigger question is what happened to Saturday's game??????????

You made the same stupid predictions on the first series. You were wrong on all 3. I think you should stick to just hating on the Mets with fact not fiction.

...and you get paid to write this dribble, huh, Ken? Well, congrats on pulling that off, I guess.

The Yankees are worse off. The Mets have injuries for an excuse. The Yankees have excuses for their excuses. Giradi should change his name to Grand Master Excuse.

Clearly the Mets are worse off because of all the injuries. The Yankees biggest problem is Chien Ming-Wang, who has single handedly kept them out of first. Still, if he gets back to his old form, he's a great pitcher.

I think most of the assertions in this article are silly and not worthy of what we've come to expect from Davidoff's smart, intellectual style. Would you really trade Cashman for Minaya? C'mon. Have we forgotten that the yankees started 2008 with no pitching? None! Cashman is as myopic a GM as there is in the game today. Given his resources almost anyone else could field a first place team.

Met fans are weary and often puzzled by the teams lapses, particularly the defensive problems. But Minaya has done far more right than he has wrong.

Take the Yankees out of there ban box and they don't look so powerful. Mets 1/2 game of of 1st place with 9 guys on DL, yankees fighting for a wild card, needless to say who is worse off

Do the Yankees end 96-66 and the Mets 87-75?

The funny thing if that does happen is the Mets would probably win the division and the Yankees would barely win the wild card. However, the Yankees schedule only gets harder since June was their "easy" month. Michael Kay said last night that Braves are muddling trough a weak NL East. Funny, the Yankees have seem to have done the same thing this month.

They are both average teams...

The Yankees have the pleasure of probably making the playoffs by default...

The Mets do not.

You are a 1/2 game out of first because the Phillies are only 37-33... that's pathetic for a first place team.

Think about that....

The top 4 teams in the AL east would all be in first place ahead of the Phils...the worst record of any first place team

I wouldn't be patting myself on the back...

who's worse off?

The team that winds up losing enough games to not make the playoffs.

baseball is unpredictable....but keep it up with the useless guesses at what can/will/should've/would've/mi ght happen.

Great projections ken, but I wouldn't take it to the bank. How about some information on the Mets lackluster medical staff or better yet, the skimpy conditioning regimen that would otherwise help prevent some of these injuries? I can't remember ever seeing this many injuries on one team. I do agree with you, Omar should polish up his resume. No playoffs, goodbye Minaya.

Don't confuse kat with silly things like won-loss records; he's still thinks Ollie Perez was a better pick than C.C. Sabathia. Maybe he likes the way Ollie skips over the lines.

The Yanks lost series to the Phils, Marlins, Nationals and if it wasn't for Castillo they would have lost to the Mets too. So let's not go patting yourself on the back either.

Daily Horoscope for January 6

Taurus

Try to keep your energy a little bit more under control. If you scatter in all directions, you'll end up hot and bothered. Mars tends to rev up your engine, but an awkward aspect to Saturn will make everything go in stops and starts. As soon as you try to shift into higher gear you meet immovable objects at the moment, so the solution is to slow down. There are wonderful, uplifting influences hanging around as well as tricky ones, so just hang in there.
