Cano is lackadaisical in the field and lazy. He doesn't work hard and it shows in his fielding, his inability to run the bases, not knowing when to advance on a sacrifice fly, inability to steal bases, inability to lay down a bunt to advance the runner, taking too long between relays from SS to 1B and of course my personal favorite; swinging at the first pitch no matter how badly the pitcher is pitching or where the ball is located when he swings. No clue when it comes to strike zone/plate discipline.
Yet Cashman rewarded him with a contract extension UNNECESSARILY!!!!!!! This clown reminds me of a dumber version of Alfonso Soriano. At least Soriano could steal a base once in awhile. Cano should have been traded for pitching when he was still tradeable. This is Cano's fourth year with the NYY and he is STILL MAKING THE SAME MISTAKES as opposed to learning, retaining and progressing. He's not coachable and it shows in every single game. I'd rather have the non-hitting Alberto Gonzalez at 2B because at least that kid cares and won't make mental mistakes in the field or on the basepaths. |
