I am in disbelief as to how and why the two Steinbrenner sons would want to bring Cashman back for more of the same. I miss The Boss because he had a passion for winning. Unfortunately for NYY fans his two sons seem to be missing that "winning at all costs" gene.
Hank/Hal are more like the other owners in MLB; businessmen who could not care less if the team wins or loses; so long as the seats are filled and all possible revenue streams maximized.
Maybe The Boss erred by not including his two sons in the day-to-day operation of the NYY earlier in their lives. Now, we the fans, the ones who have been supporting this team since the late '60's and early '70's are squeezed out by people like Lonn Trost and Randy Levine; two sharks who could not care less about the average NYY fan.
While Trost and Levine are basically running/ruining the team, the two Steinbrenner sons run around like aimless chickens trying to rehire the very incompetent Brian Cashman, a pseudo-GM (but nothing more than a bean counter) who took the championship teams built by Gene Michael, Buck Showalter and Bob Watson and steadily drove the franchise into a ditch. This organization has no reliable scouting/drafting/player development leadership; yet they want to bring Cashman Back?
I am considering smoking and drinking my way to an early death; "thanks Hank/Hal".....
