And why would we want him back at his salary when he is 37 years old?

What the hell does 'grimy' mean?

As some other people have said this weekend, the Twins were wise to let Torii go based on the contract he expected. I would rather put the money in Mauer, Morneau and others long-term.
But let's not forget that he was a great Twin when he was here. I would say that, in 3 years, if he wanted to come back for a Jim Thome style deal ($1.5 million and incentives based on plate appearances and success), to retire as a Twin, I would have no problem with that. But I doubt he would go anywhere for that $.

Sorry Tori but we had to let you go so we could pay less to our up and coming players. If we would have signed you to that deal we would be nowhere near where we are now. You were great and will always be one of my favorite Twins of all time.

As I recall, the Twins offered Torii a three-year deal for $45 Million. Now, while nobody in his or her right mind would criticize him for signing for TWO TIMES that amount with the Angels,$45 Mill ain't exactly chump change! To say that the Twins didn't make a legitimate offer and just showed him the door, is being disingenous and an attempt to rewrite history.

100% agree. That was my first thought as I read the column. We gave him the money just not the length he was after. I do not blame him for going for the money but to say we did not give him the offer was incorrect.

Hunter I recall mouthed off as if he was being dissed by the Twins' offer. He was disruptive and very ungrateful for all the organization had given and done for him. A very good ball player for us no doubt but the Twins made the right choice in letting him go to the Angels.

Never have been able to figure out why Gardy let him wear his hat cocked to the side. Shows a lot of disrespect to the Twins and MLB. He should have tried to look like a professional instead of the thug he would have been had he not had professional baseball and multi-million dollar contracts.

Do these guys ever tell the truth? The
pampered "Super Star." What a drain on the human race these people are. We all remember Latrel - I need 20 million a year to feed my family - Sprewell. Open your eyes you self-righteous crybaby. All over the world people are starving, drowning, getting shot, beaten to death, and here you are telling us how badly the Twins treated you.
Remember all the game-ending double-plays Torii smashed into when he was a Twin? Sure he was and is a great fielder, but not a great hitter, despite his increased production with the Angels.

Torii is a liar. He was offered 45 million for three years, and nobody offered anything more until the los angelas angels of anaheim california, united states, north america, northern hemisphere, world, solar system, milky way galaxie, the universe offered him 90 mil for five years. NOBODY negotiated with the cry baby, and he has been effectively overpayed by double. He aint no Kirby Puckett folks,(as far as baseball goes), even though his ego makes him think he is.The Twins are much more advanced and developed with him taking the money and leaving on his own accord than if he would have accepted the offer from us.Good luck you ingrateful whining overpayed prima donna. BTW, that was cool when Morneau kicked you ass in the dugout.

He was acutely jealous of them, nope he did not get along with them. BTW, his accusation of the twins kicking him out shows that he has no clue of what the real world is. Just another dumb clueless one.

Sad "he was just there at the wrong time".... I'm glad this rally killer is no longer a twin, he never did have a winners mentality. Talented guy for sure but not a team guy! It's all about him. And I personally think he is a racist.

Good luck Torrii stay in Cal. where that type of attitude is the norm.
Truth of the matter is, i believe he really does miss Minnesota but not man enough to admit it. He finds the bad in every situation.

Tori was a good player, but if he was as good as he talked, he would have been a great player. Where are all of his "rings" his ability brought the Angels?

There hasn't been one racist comment on this whole thread.

Not wanting a player who happens to be black isn't in the same ballpark (pun intended) as putting a man in shackles and chains or denying him a job, home, or seat at the table.

People like you do a terrible disservice to the legacy of MLK Jr. and every black American who suffered through real racism. You've managed to water down the meaning of the word so much, it no longer means much of anything to anyone. In the process, you've $h*t all over the graves of the blacks who really knew what it meant.

Congratulations. You're a tool.
