This isnt a bad team, but its not a team that can contend. Philly wont repeat as WS Champions, but they will win the East. You have 5 teams with good solid young talent. Los Mets would never be able to beat LA or the Cubs in the playoffs, and will have a hard time getting the wild card just to qualify. All the writers were fooled (again) by the garbage omar and manuel fed them. Murphy is a defensive liability right now, and right field is huge. Everyone was saying what a nice stadium the dodgers, i mean los mets built, honoring great dodger players of the past, but forgot think how the players would fit in to this new park.

During the game on ESPN, play-by-play guys Dave O'Brien and Rick Sutcliffe had done their homework, especially on the overrated Mets. They touched upon just about every weakness the team has shown in the early going: highly questionable SP after Santana, lack of HR and extra-base power, absence of clutch hitting, Murphy's problems in left and the bullpens reduced importance if poor offense negates their role. As the game itself progressed, the Mets obligingly confirmed all that they had discussed as Pineiro, looking like a future HOF'er, mowed down 13 straight semi-comatose Mets. This is a team badly out of sync and terribly boring to watch. With this kind of SP and lack of pop at bat, it will much easier for them to remain this way. Also, no longer seeing articles about what a great fit Manuel has been for this group of players. Soon, he'll be mentioned as part of the problem.

"I am a little bit surprised because I thought we would be in better shape right now," said Carlos Beltran, who had three of the Mets' seven hits. "But we have time to turn things around. We have a great ballclub, great talent. It's all about putting everything together."

And therein lies the problem. These guy are clealy delusional. From the excuses they make, to not being able to see the reality. That's why this thing, with this group, will never get better. Remember Suppan. comes in getting hammered and the Mets get him back on track. Pineiro, althought 2-0 coming in,(0-2 if not for the cards high-powered offense), getting hammered himself , and the mets get him back on track.

"We're in a tough spot right now," Wright said. Wake up delusional david. You've been in a tough spot for over 2 years now. Yeah, Willie must really be laughing it up right now! When as a collective group you are as overrated as they are, and you fail to see that, well then, it's time to back up the truck and make wholesale changes.

I don't see any light at the end of this tunnel for the Mets. Stupid fundamentals, lack of big hits with runners on base & crappy starting pitching with the exception of Johan, it's turning into a bleak 2009. I realize it's only 14 games, but after the debacles in September of 2007 & 2008, you would think that this team would get off to a flying start in 09. Not so. As for Maine, workin hard & trying doesn't get you anywhere. you have to search. Ditto for Ollie & Big Pelf as well. this team has no heart. Hell the Tin Man has a bigger heart than this club. Need someone on the team with a kickass mentality to store some life into this team before it gets out of hand. hopefully Livan can give you 6 solid innings & hopefully the Mets can get clutch to salvage the last game before heading home to face the lowly Nats & Fish than off to Philly & Atlanta the following weekend. Yes I see the Angels, Phils & Rays are also off to slow starts but time for the Mets to get in gear soon & now before this year goes in the toilet. LETS GO METS!!!

Luckily, no one the NL East has over a .500 record except Florida, and they just got swept in three by Pittsburgh.

The baseball people in the organization Messrs. Minaya Bernazard and Jeff Wilpon are absolutely clueless. This year, so far appears to be a rerun of the last three years. Will it change? Joel Pinero the same turkey that beat the Mets in September 2007 looks like Cy Young and he's not making $36 million like Perez. Some things never change.

I wouldn't be too hard on this team. After all, they don't have a ballpark of their own.

I mean, it can be a bit degrading when someone builds a park for The Brooklyn Dodgers and then lets you play there out of the goodness of their hearts.

On top of that, they have to name the place after a failing bank?

Before The Mets can be taken seriously, they need a ballpark.

I'm disgusted with the same old comments and excuses from the players. "we have to turn things around" blah, blah, blah! there is no excuse for this garbage we are watching so far. especially after the last 2 seasons!

My dentist told me this morning I need a root canal. I asked him if it would be as paniful as watching the METS. He said "oh NO, there are few things in life as painful as that-your root canal can be compared to a hangnail while watching the Mets is like taking out your appendix without anesthesia." I said thanks, Doc, I was worried.

I'm not noticing any of you Met fans in the Yankee blogs anymore. Hmmmmmmm, I wonder why, You would've thought ( by the way some of you were bragging after the first game) that the Mets were actually relevant. Please worry about your own mess from now on.

Hey dumb*** the Islander players are all very young and play with heart. They all care so don't compare this overpaid piece of crap ball team to a young team who is rebuilding and played with heart every night even when they were out of the playoff race. Do some research before you open your stupid mouth.

Boy was I raked over the coals last week for even hinting at the fact that after Santana the Mets have no starting pitching-chalk one up for this Met fan, thank you very much. Even idiots like myself get it right once in awhile. You know what management will do to change this team? When they see all the empty seats at Citi Field-you then hit them in the pocketbook.I don't think Jerry Manuel is long for this team.

Daily Horoscope for December 8

Aquarius

This is a good day for getting on with chores and mundane tasks. You'd much rather get them out of the way than have them hanging over you for any longer than necessary. What's more, you don't want to waste your time by doing things in the wrong order or by being so slapdash that you have to do something a second time. You're setting a terrific example right now!
