How about shopping for a Manager? One right out of school would be OK! He or she would have to be better than Fredi!

He has done just as good as the previous manager who had to deal with the same low revenue owner. Let's get one thing straight. The Marlins are in business to develop the kind of player they can get the most trade value for. This is a tricle up organization. The new ballpark will never make them a contender unless ownership can get some new wealth. Getting funds from the government only leads to a backlash. Look at GM and Chrysler.

Chad James? Now I'm no expert, but ghere's what I think:
Here's a guy with tremendous upside. Possesses ideal height and thickly built with top end speed.
Natural playmaking instincts, but inconsistant footwork and diagnostic skills can get him in trouble.
Explosive quick-twitch athlete and elite closing burst.
Fluid hips and natural hands.
Shows great escapability.
But he can't hit, catch, or throw.

There was an interesting article in Baseball America last issue "High School Pitching Stars don't pan out often". Just because the Marlins have been lucky in the past does not mean that they can continue to beat the odds. Of course, it is considerably cheaper to sign high school pitchers especially if they do not go in round 1. But high school coaches have no reluctance to over pitch their best pitchers. High school pitchers might not be fully physically developed and as they grow older they have problems.
College pitchers are more mature physically and mentally. They have faced better hitters and have been in more pressure situations. I myself would never draft a high school pitcher. It is against the odds they can make it to the major leagues and in drafting them you pass over more qualified college players.

I agree with going for pitching, but if a good outfield prospect is available they should prioritize that as well. The organization is deficient in outfielders. Mike Stanton is the only top outfield prospect we have besides Maybin, Logan Morrison I guess as well, but I'm not sure if he projects as an OF long-term, I read he's more of a 1B prospect. John Raynor is struggling in the minors...besides pitching I hope the Marlins nab a couple OF's.

While he has life back on track, our '03 top pick, Jeff Allison, is still in Jupiter. I always thought going for college prospects offers the best ROI instead of signing undrafted free agents from the Dominican or Venezuela or high school prospects, but of course money is always a factor.

maybe they should trade the draft pick to the yankees right now and get it over with.

OFFER Bonifacio 0 for 4 again. Must be fun for the opposite team just to worry about 23-outs. The other four are automatic. Good going Freddy. Keep him in the line up.
