He better get 190 million yen. The $1.9 million won't do him much good there.

He was a great number 2 hitter behind Pods in 2005. A near perfect combo at the top of the order with Pods' speed and the Gooch's bat control. Gooch was one of the rare Sox whho knew how to bunt. His numbers would have been much bigger down the lineup, but he gave that up and got the Ring!

I agree. He was the perfect #2 hitter for the Sox. He did strike out a bit too much, but he drove in a lot of big runs out of that spot. To me he was one of the more clutch hitters they had in '05 and '06. I wish him luck.

And I'll always remember the grand slam he hit against the cubs after Barrett hit A.J. to seal the game.

He was that rare athlete in any pro sport, a team player, one who was willing (and one of the few Sox in recent memory actually able) to sacrifice to advance a runner. Good luck back home in Japan, and be sure to show everyone your World Series ring.

Daily Horoscope for January 8

Aquarius

The atmosphere in the office is stressful. Learn to divide time in a planned and phased manner. Beware of starting a lot of new things but not having the time to finish any of them. Mental overload will burn your busy and chaotic schedules and health problems may crop up all of a sudden. If you party with friends this evening, don't make it too late.
