these are two solid moves that add the latin spice in the clubhouse, and keeps the salsa music blaring.

and how about moises alou for 2 years, maybe $30 mil, and since el duque is twirling gooseeggs without pain, in the guadalahara winter leagues, surely there is a multi year deal for our favorite senior citizen.

Omar is learning? Shouldn't he have learned before he got here and spent so much wasted money? The way you win is by building your minor league system. A team with a lot of money will be able to hold onto their young players for many years unlike teams like the Marlins and probably the Rays once they mature. If he keeps trying to only win with someone else’s players, New York Mets fans will be very disappointed. And when the Wilpons finally get rid of Omar, the whole team will be in disarray. They just don't get it.

Minaya has done a very good job. No GM will be perfect, as some of his deals have shown (Showenweiss, Castillo.) Castillo can still be vindicated, and deserves another shot. He's hungry to prove his worth. Most of Minaya's deals have been very good. He still has some work to do for 09, but he still deserves to sink or swim in 2009 or even 2010.

I'd love to even see a 3rd addition to the BP. If Fuentes's price goes down enough to a 3 yr deal for around 6 mil a year, snag him and make him your seventh inning guy. Putts is only guaranteed through 09. Then keep Pedro F and Reed as your L and R fill ins. They would be lights out...game over... October here we come... GO METS!!

Sorry but I don't think so; Omar Minaya is the type of person who needs at least two years to find what he needs.
It took him almost two years to find that the Mets bullpen was a piece of garbage;.,; now he needs a power
RH hitter and He is still thinking about who will be his best option when the best RH hitter of the majors is still in the market.
Omar Minaya has developed that type of EGO where for some reason He wants to proved now that the Mets doesn't need Manny Ramirez.
Don't get me wrong; I like the guy, but his EGO is going to hurt the Mets again
And he could get Manny for two years; Manny will do that for him but Minaya is not going to do it.

Justin: The reality is that nobady wants to deal with Manny for to long.,; I really think that if there is any place where Manny will be happy and he will be able to do his job; that place is the Mets.

The Mets need to go ahead and sign Manny. It will give them another corner outfielder and it will also give them another big bat in the line up. The middle of the line up would be hard to contend with Reyes, Castillo, Beltran Wright, Manny, Delgado, Church,Snyder.Why shouldn't we sign him ? I feel it would be a big mistake if the Mets didn't . For the last two seasons we dropped the ball. Let's not learn from this mistake if we don't sign him..
