It's K-Rod, not Sabathia, who wants to be here

Full story: Newsday

The $37 million that the Mets agreed to pay Francisco Rodriguez to be their closer for the next three years is the primary reason he was in a blue and orange No.

Jim, how you got a job as a sportswriter is unbelievable. Any met fan could have put that slop together. Sabathia "not wanting to be here" could be nothing more then a negotiating ploy, which you fail to mention. Also if being cool, calm and collected at ur press conference is a sign that ones ready for NY, than how is johnny damon doing so well he, when he was stuttering and shaking at his?

Francisco Rodriguez looked comfortable during the press conference. K-Rod made it clear from the start that he wanted the pressure cooker of New York. He will embrace the city and loyal, but demanding Mets fans. It truly is the unknown when you bring a player into New York. It does not appear to bother K-Rod at all.

This article is a joke. If it had been the Mets that signed CC he would be saying that they both want to be here and are ready for NY. Sounds like sour grapes to me!

It should be remembered that when Bobby Bonilla signed as a free agent with the Mets, he was all smiles at his presser, talked about how much he wanted to be here, and invited the writers to to criticize him if it was warranted as much as they wanted because they would "never wipe the smile off my face." That didn't turn out to well, as you may remember.

Wanting to be here does count for something, but if the Yankees win and Sabathia is comfortable, he'll be happy to stay. He'll just renegotiate his pact.

Sabathia is a solid citizen and a fantastic clubhouse presence. His team mates love him everywhere he goes, on top of being an excellent pitcher. You'd better hope that Krod brings half to his team what CC will.

yeah, looks like Sabathia will fail in NY. If your desire isnt true it's tough to succeed

Hey Jim, maybe it's people like you (the NY media) that would cause someone to not want to play in New York. Lets see how long you would be here if your were publicly critized on a daily basis. Get a life.

What are you basing this on? How do you know if K-Rod is telling the truth? Players have agents, and their job is to ge the most money for the player they represent. If I got 161 Million to play baseball, I could play on Mars and be happier than a pig in s**t.

Venom is exactly right. The mets can do no wrong, and the Yankees can do no right. Last year all we heard was "how could you not trade for santana blah blah blah." Well now, we get a guy who is just as good, while retaining key prospects.

Correct. All it cost us was money, and it's about the same money for both, just a year longer contract for CC.

Stupid talk from a benedict arnold former met fan... fact is CC was holding out for a better offer from a west coast team but the greedy obnoxious yankees put the full court press on.. didn't take long for K-rod to sign so the writer is absolutely correct.. same reason A-Rod came crawling back no one else was willing to over pay like the yanks..

Thats funny all I heard from arrogant yankee fans in the media was Santana is damaged goods or the almighty yankees (capitalist pigs in reality) let the Mets have him or my favorite was Santana wasn't worth Melky, kennedy and Hughes.. because Kennedy and Hughes according to Cashman would win 15 each so quit crying the media blasts both teams..

How do you know have you been in the Indians or Brewers clubhouse and know the players personally??
We know one thing for sure CC will bring almost twice the weight K-Rod will bring to the clubhouse.

Daily Horoscope for December 27

Sagittarius

After all the excitement of the past few days you're longing for the chance to put your feet up and take life easy for a while. Ideally, you should bury your nose in a good book and be left alone until you resurface for a food transfusion. But you'll also enjoy chatting to someone you know very well and for whom you don't have to make a big effort, such as a close relative.
