Hate to see Jacobs and his power leave but I trust Beinfest will get fair value or more.

The Marlins' 2008 fire sale has begun.

Most teams that won 84 games in 2008 would try to improve and make the playoffs in 2009.

Not the Marlins, whose first priority is going cheap.

Even though they confirmed on their website that the payroll will be around $45 million.....?

For those saying this is a dumb trade, think again. While Jacobs' power numbers were up, he was batting a low .247 and stuck out way too many times. Not to mention he was a defensive liability as well. The fact remains that we are in dire need of bullpen help.

Plus we have a top prospect in Gaby Sanchez that is ready to be brought up and can replicate Jacobs numbers and hit for a better average. This is a good trade for both parties involved.

Daily Horoscope for January 1

Libra

Happy New Year, Libra!. How's that poor old body feeling this morning?! If you're having a gathering, include casual acquaintances or newcomers as if they were one of the family. You're a real social animal and you know how to put people at their ease. This is a wonderful talent: not only do you have a network of friends and social contacts, as well as business ones, but you have the ability to bring others together. Perhaps you should start a dating agency this year!
