One even, one odd

Full story: Baltimore Sun

They are the two newest faces in the Orioles' organization. Cesar Izturis is a quiet, unassuming, slick-fielding shortstop who has agreed in principle to a two-year deal that will be finalized next week if he ...

Freel sounds totally refreshing, I am happy he's an Oriole instead of Ramon and good luck to him in his continued battle with alcohol which never ends.

Both good pickups. Freel can play like 5 positions and Itzuris is going to give them the best defense at SS they have had in years. Not every team is going to be able to sign a Sabathia or a Texiera. These will be important guys on the team as the O's get better while the cornerstones remain Markakis, Jones, Weiters, Matusz, Tillman. It also gives them the ability to trade Roberts if they get the right deal. These are not earth shattering moves, but solid pickups and another step in the right direction.

Defensively Itzuris is what the O's solely needed last year. That is one hole (of many) to be plugged for the short term. I think Freel will do better in Baltimore as DT will use him often in many spots on the field. His sense of humor should shine in the clubhouse as well but injuries are a concern. We still desperately need starting pitching.

As John Lennon once sang in The Beatles' "Money (That's What I Want)", "The best things in life are ... FREEL!!"

Our shortstops lost 5 games alone with their poor gloves last year.
If building up the middle is truly important Andy has succeeded again. Weiters,Roberts,Izturis,Jones.
Defense galore.
And Andy has his back-up plan in place if Roberts balks.(Rheel)
And Rheel is the new Millar, keeping the clubhouse loose.
Now,lets find 2 serviceable pitchers, maybe sign Tex and move forward.

They sure did lose at least 5 games. Luis Hernandez lost at least 3 games and I remember Fahey getting schooled by a ground ball that eneded up being the winning run... Plus Izturis will hit better than all of them combined.

Freel should use Josh Hamilton as an example of how to overcome his demons.

The "silly" part is columnists still trying to trade Roberts, no matter what the subject of the column is.

Freel and Hamilton were best of buds here in cincy when they were here. You will love the hustle and effort Freel gives ya, thats for sure.

Daily Horoscope for December 24

Aries

Christmas Eve finds you happy and eager to get the most out of the day. You're in a rather sentimental mood, so if you've got time you'll relish the chance to watch a favourite film, especially if it means you've got to get out the hankies. A friend's kindness or sensitivity will delight you - and make you wonder how you can reciprocate.
