I am done, Andy dont stand there and smile and try to make the fans of Baltimore buy into your crap about being excited over a crappy trade for a utility player and a low level short stop. WE DESERVE BETTER after putting up with the same crap for 11 years. You cant even get Nick and Brian signed we are going to lose Brian after this season and what are we going to have to show for it?....NOTHING because you think you can hold out and get 6 players for him. Brian is an above average 2nd baseman top notch lead off hitter but he is no spring chicken. I can suffer this no more. Tex is NOT coming here for less money he does not care about Baltimore and you really showed him something you make him and offer then leave vegas. Wow what a statement! You are bums all of you from the top of the orginization all the way down to the overpaid 3rd baseman. there is no hope what so ever in the minors what little there is has already been showcased in the majors except weiters. I quit. this is the most discusted I have ever been, I have defended the Orioles for the last time and I will not attend another game until Angelos is gone.

once again big names on the free agent market, big numbers passed around, the same teams got better, and the orioles came out the same ol' orioles. What a losing tradition!

You couldn't have said it any better. It's time the fans of this town have a rally in disguist and show angelos. My last straw will be if they offer arbitration to daniel. If they do i don't care what they do i am finished as well. It's time people to stand up to this organization. Enough is Enough. ANDY IS A FRAUD |

I haven't read all the posts, but has anyone said anything about Teixeira's Red Sox comments a couple years ago? When Tex was originally in the 1998 draft out of high school, the Red Sox tried to dictate his signing bonus. Tex didn't agree, and told them that they should draft him and then there will be monetary discussions. The Red Sox proceeded to bad mouth Tex to all the other teams, and we went in the 8th or 9th round, only garnering 1.5 mil. The Red Sox said this was a legitimate offer, since he was drafted so low.
My point is this--why would the media state that the Red Sox have the best chance when they won't talk about the history between the two parties? Furthermore, what would that say about Tex if he DID sign with the Sox? Last, Angelos is an idiot if he lets the Nats sign Tex. He threw a temper-tantrum when MLB announced moving the Expos to DC. So ultimately they got him more money by giving him the rights to damn near all of MASN. Yes, he'd make $$$ on MASN televising Tex as a Nat, but why not make the contract money back by showing Tex on MASN as an ORIOLE?!?! Angelos--Give us something to root for dammit! Open your wallet and bring Tex home! What's wrong with 9yrs/200m? You've still got plenty of money left to do the things you say you need to do for this team. GET OUT THERE AND GET THEM DONE! |
Yeah Eric Hinske will more than make up for not getting Teixeira...what a joke!
Sign Nick to a long term deal already too for gods sake! Don't jerk him around like they did Mussina please. Bring Wieters up and sign Greg Zaun to back up. Most publications are saying Wieters is almost 100% ready. Only reason I can see they wouldn't bring him is the O's are being cheap and don't want to lose a year of free agency becaue he'll be a 20million a year player by the time he's ready to hit the market. Same old, same old. |
I, like every O's fan, want to see Tex in a Baltimore uniform. But what will it cost?
Will it mean we won't be able to sign Brian Roberts and Nick Markakis to extended contracts? Will it mean we won't go after Major League pitchers and banish us to watching glorified softball games and try to outscore the opponents? Will it mean we won't be able to afford that "one player" that will get us over the hump and into the playoffs? Will we be unable to draft high quality players because our payroll is too high? |
Of course the O's will have to pay more than market to bring Tex here to a re-building effort, but what's an extra $50 million over 9 yeras going to matter to the O's bottom line. They will waste much more than that on much less talent.
It's sickening how the F. O. comes "close" on so many bid deals, only to "just miss" getting the player. What a pleasure if F.O. took some of that MASN money promised to improve our team and went over the top. Get Tex. |

In the winter meetings Andy said he would not look at it as a success unless they sign Tex, so he does not call it a success yet, he filled a stop gap at shortstop and traded for a utility player. Could have gotten a better utility player (Aaron Miles,.317 last year) if he just would have waited for players to be non-tendered, but there is a reason for everything. Baez wants, and will be in the O's rotation now. |
The O's could have a 90-120 million dollar payroll and still make a nice large profit, so that excuse don't fly to be honest. They could sign Tex for 20million a year and still sign Nick and Brian to long term deals and even pick up a couple pitchers in free agency with no problem at all. Pete is just way to cheap, must want to collect as much money as possible to be buried with I guess. |
Remember folks the O's were the first team in MLB history with a 100 million dollar payroll. Angelos got to gun shy with signings like Albert Belle and David Segui and all the others that didn't pan out that he doesn't want to spend anymore of his hard earned money.
