Full story: Baltimore Sun

On the eve of what is likely to be the Orioles' 11th consecutive losing season, I think it's important to pose an appropriate question.

We have not come close to the pain some other franchises have faced. Other teams have been bad for more than one decade. I was raised to bleed orange and black. This is the time that weeds out the fair weather fans. I know it is expensive to go to see a subpar team, but that is the reality of sports today. I was getting tired of going to games and being surrounded by people talking on cell phones and playing with laptops. I'm surprised more people were not injured by foul balls because they were not paying attention. I'm not real fond of some of Mr Angelos's meddling, but Stienbrenner did the same things in the 70's and 80's. Maybe he will learn to leave the baseball to the baseball people. I think the organization is trying to give us a better product, it's just not an exact science.

The fact that they can't or won't make a decision about Gibbons and Roberts shows that management still does not have their heads on straight. When you turn a situation around, whether in business or sports, you start at the top. The fans finger pointing starts with Angelos.

Didn't I just read something positive about Sammy Sosa here this week? Now his signing has something to do with 10 straight losing seasons? This article is a waste of space.

The one thing that I have to keep on reminding myself about the losing is, its not the Orioles fault. The issue lies in the front office and by that I mean the OWNER! That man has single handed ruined what use to be a storied franchise and turned it into a laughing stock of baseball. I have left the Baltimore Metro area, but I still come back and visit, the Orioles will always be my team. I can stomach the losing, if the players dont "pan out" thats one thing, but since it is due to an owner who could care less to compete with others, which is the root of sports and competition, until there is a change up top Orioles fans might as well expect more losing ahead.

You can say that the Orioles are rebuilding. That would be true if they would sign Markakis and Jones, along with other young talent to long-term contracts than I might believe that is the angle that we have taken. I believe Angelos is using that as a cover so he can still being a CHEAP AZZ. The bottom line with the Orioles is PETER ANGELOS has ruined not only a team, an organization, a franchise, a storied history, but a city and the fans of that city. The Ravens have at least been competitive for most of the history and due to injuries and aging they've had some down years, but seem to bounce back year after year. The Orioles has not restriction on spending for players and seem to be lost on the concept of "it takes money to make money." I know that Angelos has plenty and cares not to spread any into his MLB team. He made a huge chunk of money in 8 of the 10 losing campaigns and invested very little, but at what cost. I'll tell you the entire city of Baltimore and every Orioles fan across the World!

A day at Camden Yards is just inherently a good thing. However, I do think that the farther down the O's go, the better those of us who opt to show up should be treated. For example-when the lower bowl is empty, why should we still be sitting in the uppers? We chose to show up and those seats are unsold-so who exactly should be treated like gold?
I stuck it out when the Birds went down 30-3 against the Rangers last year-it was bad...really bad.
If I keep coming back for more, then I should be treated like solid gold.
Ain't no one else rooting these "turkeys" on.
See ya on Monday.

Got to believe that one day things will click together. Look at Detroit 5 years ago or Cleveland. Yeah, we play in a tough division with Bosox and Yanks, but we can hold our own against them (at least we have in the past). It's all in the scouting and then being able to write the big check. We are NOT a small market team, so if and when the scouting occurs, the O's will be back.

Go O's!!
