With a dynamic duo like Putz & K-Rod, this could eerily resemble shaded of Rivera/Wetteland circa 1996 or the tandem of Nelson/Stanton/Rivera circa 1998-2000. Certainly much improved over 2008. You can even put Luis Ayala as the 7th inning man as well. With Schoeneweis likely gone, with a pen of Putz, K-Rod, Sean Green,Stokes, Kunz, Parnell this bullpen should have a lot more saves than blown saves. After blowing 29 in 2008, this should i say SHOULD be a lot better. Of course we need a good satrting rotation so we don;t have to shell out relievers almost every day. Maybe Johan, Big Pelf, Maine can throw that occasional 9 to rest them. As usual though looks good on paper but they have to do it on the field. Hopefully it won't be a third straight Septemeber swoon as big mouth MVP Cole Hamels just said in the Post. Choke artists? Yeah indeed but they won, they should gloat but for CHrissakes shut your mouths & enjoy without rubbing it in. Can't wait for the PHils to come to Citifield with Mets fans serenading Mr Hamels ala Strawberry with COOOOOOOOLLLLLEYYYY< COLLLLLLLLEYYYYY!!!! LOL!! Let's Go Mets!!!!

Now the Phillies have Raul Ibanez!!! Man-O-Man we need Manny Ramirez!!! Give Manny a 3 year $75M contract and let's get this season started so these Mets can choke the s*** out of the Phillies once and for all!!!

I agree that now the Mets need to spend their efforts and money in finding another good starter. Because that was a problem area for them.

Well ,Omar you have done well so far but wheres the beef ,we need a left fielder and a second baseman and a starter that can go 7 or 8 innings . Thought you had a line on Garland ,he 'd be great fit and he can last the 7 or 8 innings like Santana . You picked up another outfielder in Reed but can he hit ?? Endy did a good job for us with speed and an occasional hit .The Philley picked up your dark horse in Ibenez so who have got to ga after now ?
Burrell or Ramirez or what happened to Martinez the phenom we had last year ??

Now that the Mets have addressed the bullpen, they should
sign Pat Burrell at 3 years, 9 million per year to play leftfield
and trade for Jake Peavy.

If Jake Peavy is willing to pitch in New York, the Mets can
send Pitchers Bobby Parnell, Duaner Sanchez, Infielder
Argenis Reyes, and OF Nick Evans to San Diego.

This trade makes sense because:
1.Peavy has about 3 years left on his contract which makes
him a good investment.
2.He will make 10-12 million next season which is what Pedro
Martinez made.
3.His contract is alot cheaper than CC Sabathia and
A J Burnetts.

A Santana-Peavy combo would destroy the Philles doubts
about the Mets.

Add a starting pitcher, 2B Dan Uggla, and OF Jeremy Hermida to complete this 2009 team.

Starting line-up
SS - Reyes
LF - Hermida/Murphy
3B - Wright
1B - Delgado
CF - Beltran
RF - Church/Evans
2B - Dan Uggla
C - Schneider/Castro

Bench reserves - Tatis, Castillo, Martinez, Reyes, Pagan

Santana
Peavy, Perez, or Penny
Maine
Pelfrey
*Knight/Niese

With a bullpen of Ayala, Parnell, Stokes, and Kunz along with the additions of Robertson, Green, Putz, & K-Rod. This bullpen looks sweet on paper and kicks a$$ on the mound!

*The Met's might be able to operate with 4 starting pitchers (pitching 6 innings) on 3 days rest instead of 5.
