The dodgers don't want to pay the arbitration price for Joe. Joe had a great season and is asking over $4 million per year so baseball being a "union shop" his arbitration price (based on his production) would be at least around his asking price.

By not offering arbitration, the team that signs Joe would have to give up a high draft pick to the Dodgers plus meet his salary demands...So the market needs to play out to see where Joe ends up. He's going to be missed both personally and professionally. He did a great job for us.
