Mets' K-Rod can't close door as Orioles rally

Full story: Newsday

It was only a matter of time, right? For nearly three months, Francisco Rodriguez had been the one untouchable member of a Mets team that has been all too vulnerable this season.

The only constants amoung a team of underachievers has been Santana and K-Rod. But their recent efforts show you just what happens to even the best when the rest play uninspired, laxidaisical baseball. When you deal with a constant lack of fundamentals, bad decision making, and generally poor preparation, it can even wear the best down.

It's the same old song for the Mets every day they find another way to stumble. The roster is depleted but they have no players in the minor leagues to either promote or trade for help. Minaya and his minions are directly responsible. This is the fourth year of Minaya's "I do believe plan." The "quick fix" approach employed by Minaya at the expense of player development has not worked. Yet the Coupons' gave Minaya a contract extension, so unless pigs fly the Mets are doomed yet again.

No need to be negative, guys. We're only three games back and half the team is on the DL. I'm sure Omar will think of something. And when we get everybody back in August, they will be fresh while the rest of the league will be dog-tired. No worries. Just chill and wait for the Big Run.

Los nostephanfan....countdown to mental collapse before Sept. I know I wrote the other day to ignore mucking forons like him, but I was in the mood. Of course the Mets shouldn't have blown the last 2 games. And naturally of course the Phillies got swept so they could have made up some ground. But, they are 3 games out and are in good shape as a wild card. It is only mid June. Perez will be back soon, and barring any other issues with Maine, he should be back soon too. Of course there are issues with guys not hitting in the clutch and leaving men on base. That has to be corrected and real soon. Time will tell.

Omar has been bedridden by the swine flu for the last week. The team wont do anything until he gets better. Bernie Madoff stole the wilpons money so they dont have much to pay anyone right now.

Another blown save? Go ahead fool yourself count Choke-Roid's gift from Castillo. Fact is your team sucks, the pitching is way overrated and Choke-Roid won't get a chance to do his usual disappearing act come October. Shut out by the Nationals, what a joke. Never mind K-Rod being overrated, you should worry about Mariano and Joba nothing special about their stuff anymore.

Let's see 0-3 against the Red Sox should have been 1-3 against the Mets and 1-3 against the worst team in the majors, the Nats.. looks like the whole yanks team is sick.
You should be rooting for the Mets to beat the Rays, but it's only a matter of time till they pass the Yanks. Told you they're cursed by A-Roid.. Yanks win nada while he's there.

I don't believe anyone can hold Minaya for the lack of development within the farm system. When Steve Phillips/Jim Duquette were running the Mets baseball operations, how many players came through the system that are currently on the roster who are solid contributors? All of TWO...

. You are such a tired cliche, lackadical, not laxidaisical, uninpired baseball. Do you watch this team playing with backups to backups. They are playing very hard and with any luck easily could be in first place, despite having 8, count them 8 men on the DL. The steroid pie throwing team in the billion dollar ban box just got a.ss slaped by the Nationals, oh they had Jeter not play, bwaaaaaaaaaa. Get off the tired nonsensical soap box Jimmmmsshhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaa, btw what kind of name is that, are you some kind of voodoo witch doctor.

How many times do we have to say it: they're not a clutch team, period. Some teams have those types of players, this team doesn't. I'm sure Wright's had some big hits over the years, but I sure can't remember any two-out, bottom-of-the-ninth type.

Jack the Cabbie, long time no speak. How's things. yeah another gut wrenching heartbreaker by the Mets in a season full of them. K-Rod is human after all, first real blown save, the other one was Luis's fault. But Good Heaven you're hoping Cuckoo Friend & Ollie will be the saviour? PLease. Now Maine took a step back with his shoulder barking again. Lost in the shuffle were 7 solid innings by Livan, deserved a better fate. So far 5-10 in JUne only one series won out of 6. Not good. Then again take solace that the Stinkees lose 2 of 3 to the Nats. THE NATS? You've got to be kidding me. That's embarrassing. add to that Choke Roid go 0 for 12? Loving it. the curse of Chole Roid continues. Only 8 more years they have with this clod. Mark my words the Yankees will never win with this womanizing clod. As far as our team big homestand & very tough stretch up to the break with Nieve coming off his stellar outing last saturday in the Bronx pitching tonight against the Rays then hopefully Johan can get beack on track tomorrow. Hope he hit rock bottom with that disaster last Sunday. take it one at a time. Have a good one pal.

Jack, good post and I agree with your assess of the Mets, but you're wasting your time trying to talk real baseball to this imbecile.

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Gemini

You're in a very erratic mood today, making you restless, edgy and nervy. It may be almost impossible to settle to anything for long, because, as Mercury slows, you soon lose interest. If life becomes boring you'll want to liven it up in some way and it's likely you'll choose the most disruptive and controversial option you can think of, even though you know this will cause trouble.
