Great column, Larry. Clearly, we know why you're working for the York-Dispatch. Strikeouts are irrelevant. Arizona had the most strikeouts. They finished in last. Kansas City had the fewest strikeouts. Guess what? They also finished in last. You really can't be that slow. Please use 21st Century baseball statistics. It's not 1955 anymore.

Who is the orioles power hitter then??? Adam Jones?? They need a big bat to go along with Nick Markasis. The Phillies seem to do fine with Ryan Howard Striking out 200+ times a season. Also how could you get bad to worse when Miguel Tejada played third last year with all those errors. Trust Bucky, he knows what he is doing. Just look what he did at the end of the year. Just have faith, things will get better.

This is the worse article I have read on this subject, Mark Reynolds. The guy would have lead the O's in homers and RBIs last year. Also, you are judging his 2010 performance on a year which he was literally injured throughout the entire season, of course he's going to have a down year. K's are alarming yes. But a power presence could wear off on Jones, Markakis. At least the Orioles picked up a with potential, at 27, and not veteran on his way out (See Garret Atkins).

Strikeouts do not matter, an out is an out. What does matter is onbase %, and slugging %; which Reynolds supplies.

Ranking hitters according to their batting average is archaic.

Larry is clueless. The Orioles can't attract any power hitting free-agent third baseman to their team so they made out pretty well on this one. They get 30-40 HR potential with what is said to be an above average defender by those who actually watch him play. Not a bad move at all. Also, I'd rather have him strikeout with runners on first and third than hit into a double play.

The Orioles have actually gotten much better with the addition of Reynolds and Hardy. I would have loved for them to get Beltre, but he wouldn't go there and anyways, look at the last big offer he had, he is a contract year player, he's demonstrated that over his career. Reynolds is a gamer and plays hard every game not just when he's playing for a new contract.

Daily Horoscope for May 21

Capricorn

If you're feeling lonely and vulnerable, it seems as though someone is out to get you. Perhaps you're separated from the people you love and you don't like it. Try not to mope for too long, because there are important things that need your attention. Speaking of which, if you need to do something that you're dreading, you'll feel much better if you can get it out of the way quickly. If you leave it, the very thought of it will drain your energy.
