Sox's Jose Contreras clears waivers, sent to minors

Sure hope Contreras can get things worked out in the minors. He helped us win the WS in 2005 and we should never forget that.

Why did we pick up a turkey like Gobble to pitch out of the pen? The guy has like a 5.5 lifetime ERA. And why do we seem to recruit all our relievers from Kansas City? Have we been carrying out some sort of special project to turn that team around?

Contreras should of been sent down to the glue factory. Let Thome drive the car with him! I'm a die hard Sox fan, but I'm able to admit when it's time to move on! 2005 was over 3 seasons ago, let's get over it. He hasn't done anything since the 2006 All-Star game to now! Rowand is gone and isn't coming back. The memories can never be taken away, but we need to judge this team from this point forward with what we have. I give them another 30 games and after that depending on how they do I say bring up the kids and look forward to next season!

I think the Sox picked up Gobble because they felt bad killing him in KC the last few years! Especially Konerko!

We have the same problem since '06. No situational hitting, can't steal bases, can't throw anybody out, no centerfielder and we rely on the long ball way too much!

The Sox were desperate from the start having to rely on Jose and Bartolo in the first place. If Richard can't get it done, we're in big trouble. Good luck Jose, he's been a solid contributor for the Sox for a while and I hope he can get it together. The Sox need him if they are going to stay out of the bottom half of the division. Not that Gio Gonzalez or any of those other guys Kenny sent away in the Swisher trade have amounted to much for A's but it would be nice to have some options right now. The Sox don't seem to have many.

You have to admire Jose for requesting to be sent down to the minors. He put the team and the organization first. How many veterans put their egos first and refuse reassignment even when it is to their advantage?
