Smoltz, Glavine and Avery took their lumps in their first season. Two of the three will go to the HOF. Give the kids a chance! They'll have $85 million reasons to get better next year.

He never was a effective Starter in college or the minors, which is not the major leagues. He has no track record to think this guys going to be a number five let alone Josh Beckett. Beckett was the second overall pick in the first round.Joba 41st.Sometimes that doesn't dictate how good a guys going to be,but,it's a good gage. Look at the Red Sox young pitchers. I think they are prepared and groomed to succeed in a similar pressure filled media market. They really need to either leave him in the bullpen or send him down to AAA to start and to properly stretch him out. This is a recipe for a arm injury and then what to do have.Just a thought

Finally a story without all the hype and based on what the Yankees are trying to accomplish. I hate to break the news to all 20-30 year old Yankee fans who call talk radio to complain about the Yankees, but sometimes you do not make the playoffs. Sometimes you have to take a step backwards to build for the future. Sometimes you have to root for your team as they are building the foundation. During this time, the road is tough, but when you finally do win, its the best! It will come, you just need to have patience.

Joba pitched fine last night, but I do agree that the pitch count worked against him and the Yankees last night. I have been a Yankee fan since the early 70's so I have been through the highs and the very lows. Do I want them to make the playoffs, of course, but if they don't then oh well. Life goes on. The problem with Yankees in my opinion is not the way Joba is being handled but how old the team looks. Once the team gets a better balance of younger and older players then thats when I beleive this team will take off.
