This is getting too ugly to watch anymore. Between Mayor Naugle's little homophobic hate-fest this afternoon and the seemingly intractable bungling of the Marlins defense, it has been a pretty bad day for aesthetes. This team is playing like it just doesn't give a damn anymore - an attitude it has no doubt contracted from its management and ownership, just as the team's fans have taken the hint and returned Jeffrey Loria's penuriousness in kind.

Ugly, sad, depressing, needless, disgusting...on and on and on....why bother if they dont care at this point...wait 'til next year sounds like a sad joke at this point....worst, most unsatisfying Marlins season ever, even worse than those 100 loss teams in the late 90s, because at least we knew those teams were going to suck. This team just underachieves due to poor management at the top and at the team level. Granted, there have been injuries, but c'mon now, all teams go through that.

The manager is the problem he is latino and look at the latino players they quit . Profiling is a good thing Gonzales should go. Benitiz is a joke. Marlins have the talent but need leadership. No hustle ,late for games, and worst of all no chemistry.

I am very disappointed in this years Marlins. The manager should've had the team practice everyday on their defense. Pitching is also a big problem. If Benitez couldn't get people out when in San Fran., do you think he would get better here? Lol, doubt it and of course we all know what Benitez has done since rejoining the Marlins.

How in the world does management keep letting this happen all the time. Hanley should be fined for throwing the ball in the manner he did. Keep him out of the lineup for a few days as punishment and then see if he throws the ball like that again. I have never seen such a weak team like this one is. Management needs to do something quick as it is a disgrace how they play.

Was it Einstein who said "doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results is insanity" Well, we've had insanity here for a season now. It's time for genius Beinfest to step up to the plate and do something different.
They actually cheered when Benitez came out to close when the Marlins were in SF! The fans in SF despised him. These wonderful bargains, the brainchild of Beinfest are turning out to be disaster-fest. Does anyone in the ownership group give a damn?

Why would you want to suspend our star player? Errors will happen and Hanley will get better with experience. And stop ratting on Fredi. He's doing a decent job for his 1st year. The one that blew it last night was Benitez. Fredi does trust him too much just because he's a veteran reliever, but Miller should've pitched the 8th because he's obviously having a much better season.

Go Marlins!!!!

Keep racking up those losses.
Oh by the way, your lease at Joe Robbie is ending soon and Wayne wants you out. We don't like playing football on dirt. I guess you will have to move to the orange dump. A place that is rich in history but is currently a dump. Just like the Marlins, two world series which was amazing, but now a waste of a baseball team.
Next season, the Marlins will feature a AA team with Hanley as the only star because Miguel is going to get big bucks elsewhere.
I have a suggestion, since UM is moving to Joe Robbie, why not move to Alex Rodriguez Park- formerly Mark Light Field. Probably couldn't even fill the stands there on a weeknight.
Good luck to you.

Very early in the game the Marlins had bases loaded 2 outs a 3-1 count on Ugla. Instead of taking a strike or only swing if it is perfect, Ugla swings at a pitch in his eyes. That was easily ball 4 and the Marlins would have had a 2 zip lead.Huge mistake. After Ramirez error it was time to bring in GREGG for a 4 out save.Benitez gave Ramirez a horrible look .At that point it's a no brianer. BRING IN GREGG.Recently Gregg has not had continuous work because of the familiar late inning meltdowns. BRING IN GREGG!!!!!!!

. As a Mets fan it really pissed me off when these "sports talking heads" say Hanley is better than Jose Reyes. There is an element to the game called defense which Ramirez is not in the same league with Jose, as in base stealing.

Shut the heck up! Us real Marlins fans are tired of idiots like you hating all the time. If we were in a playoff race you'd probably be another bandwagon fan. In time this town will become a real baseball town with history and true fans. For now it's a building process but having dumb fans like you just make it annoying.

Who has the leagues best average?
Hanley is the better base stealer - but he hits so many home runs he is not on base very much
Now defense - I give you a point there. My local pub cricket team in England is better at defense than these Maralins - and they don't even know how to play baseball!

Barone got ripped off. Fredi pulled him an inning too early, and that meant Benitez got his chance to blow it. Ramirez played great behind Barone, and then blew it behind Benitez. Seems like Benitez is an expensive cancer on this team.

This team cannot go to the LLWS, because those players make fewer errors than these Marlins. Fredi could be replaced by one of those part-time LLWS managers, and this team would do better.

Wasted a last chance with Cabrera and Willis, before we lose THEM as well due to the cheap owner. We used to be like the Yankees, and now we are more like the Royals. And the Washington Nationals are now the young overachieving team, while we are the underachieving team. Sad. No wonder only 2500 showed up for our last home game...

Hanley--
You made an error. But before you keep beating yourself up--or let any Dolphin or Met jerks on this board beat you up--consider that you actually had a GREAT defensive game last night until that error. Three textbook doubleplays and one nifty pickup and toss to first. In any case, an error SHOULD NOT mean a 4-run floodgate automatically opens up--especially with a "veteran" reliever on the mound.
And also, consider this. Fredi, as we amiably call him, had three decision points to make a pitching change in consideration of all that we know about Armando under pressure and before the actual "call to the bullpen": 1) after the error, when Armando was visibly upset and went into industrial-strength sweating mode; 2) after the first hit, which allowed the tying run to score from second; 3) after the second hit, a hard-hit line drive in the gap that gave the Cardinals a one-run lead.
This was not enough for Fredi to bestir himself to make the change? Was he worried about Armando's psyche? Did he not want to undermine his confidence to preserve his ability to blow future games? Justin Miller, or even Kevin Gregg, wasn't ready? Gregg hasn't had a 4-out save before?
I know, I know: these are questions YOU can't answer, and shouldn't have to. SO PLEASE, DON'T BEAT YOURSELF UP.

The ones who have to answer for all of this are Larry B.(for thinking he can continually re-cycle ineffective players, even after the experience with Julio); Fredi G.(for lack of leadership and poor game tactical skills, and for reeling Benitez back into an 8th inning setup role for which he is now ill-suited, as he's demonstrated quite dramatically even before last night, and for leaving him in there with the situation getting out of hand); and Armando B.(for being ineffective and then being a self-serving prima donna about it, recalling how often he's beaten St. Louis in the past in his remarks to the press).
(Note to Juan: Sorry, your colleague Mike had it wrong about Fredi in his column. Fredi lost the Girardi crowd last year, but he's lost the rest of us who had no bad faith toward him this year; and now, it looks like he's lost his team, if not his job.)

Juan--
Please pass this on to Hanley when you see him:

"Al mal tiempo, buena cara."

"A lo hecho, pecho."

"No hay mal que por bien no venga."

He'll understand...as do you.

Any ideas of the English translations? These are tough ones for a native English speaker. I can attempt the following:

(1) Keep a brave face during bad times

(2) It happened: FORGETABOUTIT!!!

(3) No good comes without bad

These are attempts to translate the Spanish idioms into English idioms - not the words themselves!

Did I get it? Verdict please!
