Great story. I pray he stays clean and continues on to have a Hall of Fame career. 95 RBI's so far, Wow.

Another ex-Cub to go on to greatness. And why was it we didn't need him?

um.... i don't think he played for the cubs... the devil rays and the reds, but i'm pretty sure the cubs passed on him... could be wrong though.

Not a fan of the home run derby, but watched yesterday and hamilton made it an event. That was pretty cool, he almost hit it out of Yankee stadium at least 3 times.

Those kids that kept running up to Hamilton for autographs and to give him water were with Edinson Volqez. That's the guy the Reds traded Hamilton to the Rangers for.

Ex-Cub is a bit of a stretch since he belonged to the Cubs for less than a day. The Rule 5 draft deal with the Reds had been settled in advance, had that deal not been in place the Cubs more than likely would not have picked him.

The Cubs got him from the Rays in the Rule 5 draft and then sold his rights the same day to the Reds. That has proven to be a big mistake.

I thought the record of 24 was never going to be broken, I was thinking it a few years ago when I saw Abreu hit 24. Now Hamilton hits 28? wow. He was cracking 500 footers to right field like it was nothing.

I think the old guy threw something like 60 pitches, thats alot for a 71 yearold.

the disrespectful treatment of Justin (called him Jason!!) Morneau by ESPN was outrageous. He was gracious enough to agree to help MLB & participate last minute, and from the beginning the announcers said he 'should'nt even be there'!! what a joke. The derby has rules, and Hamilton decided to showboat it in round one and wear himself out. Morneau played by the rules and was basically brushed aside when he won!! A classy athlete through and through he took it in stride though... much kudos to him, and SHAME ON ESPN for their handling of the whole thing. Just another example of how the small market teams get treated unfairly on a consistent basis.

The Rangers are a small market team.

I totally agree with Andy from Minneapolis, the treatment of Justin was totally uncalled for. We all know Josh was great, but it also looks like Josh wasn't too brite eh. Coming out for the second round cost Josh maybe one of the greatest nights of his life .

I laughed at the all star game vote! There are too many sCrUBS in the all-star game for the national league to have a chance. Hahahaha good job blowing it again. No home field advantage for the national league this year. bawahahahahahaaaa

Seperating this form the emotions of the home run derby (can you believe I jsut said that?), you would be completely correct. That every fan was on their feet chanting "Hamilton Hamilton", he had to go out there and hit some more. It was fun to watch.

Very talented player, who put on a show. Don't watch baseball often, but he would be someone worth watching. However, why all the focus on his personal life struggles? There are millions of people with drug and alcohol problems, an most of them are self induced and struggling to stay sober everyday. His addiction story is no greater than any other addict, so lets keep the focus where it should be, on his baseball play.
