if you think lugo is the de facto starter just because of the money wow just wow. the guy cant hit and cant field anymore. lowrie should and IMO will start with lugo being a guy that gives lowrie some days off, maybe even pedroia (but pedroia doesnt take days off) and a pinch runner for speed on the bases in tight games.

Julio Lugo only returns to the Sox this year because of Mike Lowell's hip and that big contract he has still yet to earn. Sox would have dumped him if they could have got someone half decent but any potencial team who wants to trade would have had the Sox pay off his contract as well.

If Mike Lowell is slow to return (or is damaged for good) then Lowrie slips over to 3rd and they still have a lineup. No decent left siders on the bench and prospects still a year or more away.

Lowells hip is the key for the Sox this year.
