Franklin High grad 10th El Paso player to make majors

Full story: El Paso Times 9
In life's biggest moments, strange thoughts start running running loose. It was last Saturday afternoon when the gate to the visiting bullpen at Yankee Stadium swung open and Anaheim's 24-year-old reliever, Fernando Rodriguez, began his jog to the mound for his Major League debut. Full Story

Bret, Good story, nice to hear about El Pasoan working his way up the Majors.
But ... who are the other nine players from El Paso who made it to the Majors? I can think of nearly that many by myself: Sid and Andy Cohen, Butch Henry, Alan Zinter, Frank Castillo, Armando Almanza, Danny Perez (I think he got there for a cup of coffee) and Rocky Coppinger. That's eight and I don't think I know them all. I know there was a player from Bel Air in the 1960s who made it to the Cardinals but I can't remember his name.
Anyway, you can't throw out "10th El Paso player to make it to the Majors" and not tell us who they are.
Know you're busy, besides the feature on Rodriguez, you had two other stories in Saturday's Times. But, come on, who are on your list of 10? I'll bet there are more.

Socorro killed this guy. Glad he finally made it but I bet he would not want to pitch at the pound again.

Guess where most of the Big League players come from: That's right HANKS HIGH SCHOOL; Bruce Ruffin, Alan Zinter, Danny Perez, Mark Gruzdilyank. Not to mention other professional players like LPGA stars adn PGA stars. SO if you want to say anything, Hanks is the best school to go to if you want a shot in the pros. But over all, the city should just be proud that the kids make it that far no matter where they come from, they are all from El Paso.

Hanks may be the school to attend if you want a history of professionals in the Big Leagues or golf but Andress has always been El Paso's only NFL factory. But you're right they are all from El Paso.
